I would like to take this time out to thank everyone that made this possible. A lot of things didn’t go as expected, but we are here. To all the adversity, I really appreciate It. It makes success that much sweeter!! As we are in a new year, we are also in the faceof new struggles and new obstacles. But as we challenge these changes with a will to succeed and a determination to conquer we will always endure in the face of seemingly impossible situations. I hope everyone makes the best of 2011

Sin Since this is our first publicized issue, I would like to take this time out and thank a pioneer that inspired me and paved the way for me to see measure and greatness in the Magazine industry. The late John H. Johnson, the founder and publisher of ‘Ebony ‘and ‘Jet’ Magazines. His vision and courage started an empire from a five hundred dollar investment, to becoming the first African American to be in Forbes 400 richest Americans. Please understand this is not about becoming rich or wealthy, or for some kind of glory trip. I saw the diversity and greatness that is our city and wanted to bring it together so that the consumer can truly see all this talent and achievement on one platform. Back to reality, we are currently living in a recession. There are wars being fought, people are dying rite now. Our city is at risk of loosing all relevants and swagger and its up to u, the reader to be led by one force; “PBM” to be kept in tune with everything relevant and inspiring in Philadelphia. This great city of ours has had a soggy name and reputation due to the drugs and violence and our will to embrace this through song and artistic form. We are here to do one thing……. INSPIRE CHANGE……… What we have done here at Philly Bred Magazine is brought together the best of the best in every respective walk of life in our city. We hope to shine light on the stars and great people of tomorrow, so that they can be noticed and get recognition on a larger scale, the world. So help us promote Philly to Philly, get involved.
