Philip, here on earth your face we’ll no longer see, but we thank you for our grandbabies, your beautiful legacy. The Obituary

Philip Lewis Hines was born in Moore County on July 23, 1984 to the Grady Lewis Hines, Jr. and Yulla Purcell Hines. He suddenly and peacefully departed this life on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Scotland MemorialHospital. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age, he often called and would say Mama, I prayed about this or that. He would frequently ask for prayer and he knew the power of prayer. He loved the Lord. Philip was baptized on July 13, 1993 at Buffalo Springs Church. He played the drums for many years and oh, how he loved to play those drums! Philip was a happy young man - always smiling, never angry. We would often say “Everybody loves Philip”. This would bring a big smile to his face. He was so unique! He believed style and appearance were essential. Philip sang on the choir, ushered and participated in many oratorical contests and Chautauqua. Philip grew up in Buffalo Springs Church. His younger days were spent serving in the House of the Lord. Philip attended and graduated from Hoke County High School in 2002. He played Basketball and Football at West Hoke Middle School and Hoke County High. Notably, Philip was a BIGbasketball fan. He was employed at Pioneer Corn Company in Maxton, NC. Philip loved his family and always shared with us that he had to take care of his family. He was an optimist; he believed and looked on the positive side of life. Philip believed it has already happened before it was manifested Even through his struggles, he looked on the brighter side often reminding us that things will get better. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Grady Lewis Hines, Sr., Will A. Purcell, Minister Josephine McDonald and Mary Hines. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Grady L. Hines, Jr. and Yulla P. Hines; one son, Azarion McKeithan of Fayetteville, NC; one daughter, Sha’Ziah Wright of Laurinburg, NC; one sister, Ashley Denise Hines of Raleigh, NC; two older extended siblings - Adrienne Robinson of Charlotte, NC and Kenneth Washington of Laurinburg, NC; a very, very special friend and partner Shayla Wright and daughter, Sha’Myra Wright of Laurinburg, NC; four aunts, Beulah Morrisey (Charles), Eulah Leach, both of Raeford, NC, Joyce Davis (Preston)

of Laurinburg, NC and Cynthia Hines of Newark, New Jersey; five uncles Will Purcell (Jackolean), Alexander Purcell (Janet), both of Raeford, NC, Roger H. Purcell, Ronnie Hines (Liz), Alonzo Hines all of Laurinburg, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

There is no time we could set for partingWe who must remain

Are never ready for such pain.Even though our prayers would be-

Not yet, not yet Dear God----another day,With us let our beloved stay.

We must believe when fall the blowThat, wisely God has willed it so.
