When Pacific Hills Christian School presents a musical, our intention is to glorify God by the use of the gifts that He has given to us as students, staff and parents. We thank God for this opportunity to present the musical, The Prince of Egypt.

We are delighted that you have joined us to enjoy and appreciate this musical and to be thankful for the gifts and commitment

for all of those involved. Through the production of this musical and its presentations, we constantly remind ourselves of God’s goodness to us through music, drama

and dance. What special gifts He gives us to enjoy and to exercise for the blessing of others.

There are so many people involved in a musical production and we are thankful for each one of them, including those behind the scenes.

It is our continuing prayer that you will enjoy the time of fellowship as well as the musical itself and that you will be blessed by what you see and hear.

The Prince of Egypt follows the story of Moses from his birth into slavery in Egypt, his adoption by the royal family of Egypt and his call from God to rescue the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and to lead them to the Promised Land.

The Prince of Egypt has been an incredibly exciting project. Using the songs from the DreamWorks cartoon as a base, the

show has involved immersing ourselves in the Biblical account of Moses’ journey, writing and orchestrating six original numbers and developing a script. We have been incredibly blessed with a team of staff, parents, past

students and volunteers who have used their gifts and talents to dream and create on stage. There have been countless opportunities for us to see God’s provision including Geoff Bullock’s contribution in writing songs for the show. The production has seen 140 students from the ages of 8 to 18 working together, encouraging one another and singing and dancing their hearts out.

Moses was just an ordinary man, used by God in an extraordinary way. As he stands before a God who speaks out of a flaming bush, he asks “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh?” And “Who am I to lead the people out of Egypt?” God’s answer is clear and His message is the same today “I will be with you”. It’s never about who I am but who God is. It’s a truth that is at the core of what I believe and it is my prayer that as you take the journey with Moses, that God will also show you His amazing love and His power to Deliver Us.

Laugh, cry, dream and enjoy!

SynopsisThe musical is a retelling of the story of Moses, with theatrical licence taken. The account of Moses, who led his people out of slavery in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land, is detailed in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament. The Prince of Egypt opens with Moses’ people, the Hebrews, brutally enslaved by their masters, the Egyptians. When Moses is born, his mother, yearning for a better and safer life for her son, hatches a plan to set him afloat in a basket on the Nile River just as the Queen goes down to the river. The plan works, and Moses is adopted by the royal family and raised with privilege.

In the Egyptian Court, he encounters Zipporah who is to become his future wife. But though he looks and acts Egyptian,

Moses is still a Hebrew at heart. As a young man, his true identity unexpectedly rises to reclaim him when he comes face to face with the harsh reality of his people’s enslavement.

After killing an Egyptian overseer, and being rejected by both the Egyptians and the Israelites, Moses wanders alone in the desert, questioning his purpose. Moses then rescues a family of Midianite sisters from some shepherds and is surprised to find one of them is Zipporah, who he has previously met. Moses and Zipporah are married by Jethro, Zipporah’s father in a great celebration.

Next, at the Burning Bush Moses is commissioned by God himself to confront the Egyptian Pharaoh where miracles and wonders ensue, culminating in the infamous Egyptian plagues including the final plague of death and the death of Rameses’ own son.

Then, Moses leads his people feet first into the ultimate miracle the awe-inspiring parting of the Red Sea. It’s an unlikely story of one humble man who obeys God and leads an entire people to freedom.
