COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN (CAD)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Before the advent of computers, draftsmen, spent a lot of

time, putting together their ideas or design on paper, using

drawing boards, T-Square, Pencils, drawing Papers, tracing

paper etc. This cumbersome process was result oriented but

was not efficient. On the invention of computers and

software, these processes were made easy and

sophisticated. CAD software became so versatile such that,

3D formats was included in addition to the conventional 20

designs.

CAD is used to increase the productivity of the designer;

improve the quality of design; improve communications

through documentation and to create a database for

manufacturing especially for 20 prints, CNC and 3D Printing

(Manufacturing). CAD output is often in the form of electronic

files for print, machining, or other manufacturing operations.

In other to do away with old ways of producing drawings, this

workshop was designed to equip participants with the

methodology and operations required in the use of the CAD

Software to create production drawings.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

1. Create lines, radii, shapes, chamfer etc;

2. Use measurement and dimensioning tools;

3. Edit Save and Print Files;

4. Configure and set software;
