THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
• THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, WHERE THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT (MPs) MEET AND WORK, ARE A FAMOUS LONDON SIGHT ALONG THE RIVER THAMES. THE CLOCK TOWER IS CALLED BIG BEN AND IT IS FAMOUS ALL OVER THE WORLD. ITS NAME REFERS TO THE BELL OF THE CLOCK.
• BIG BEN IS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS YOU SEE WHEN YOU VISIT LONDON. IT WAS ERECTED AFTER THE HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT HAD BEEN BURNED IN 1834. THE HUGE CLOCK INSIDE THE TOWER IS EXTREMELY ACCURATE

IF YOU CLIMB THE TOWERS YOU CAN ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE RIVER AND SEE THE ORIGINAL STEAM MECHANISM FOR RAISING THE BRASCULES TOWER BRIDGE WAS OPENED IN 1894.
