HOCKEY EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK#51 MARTIN OUELLETTE, MAINE (Junior Goaltender; St.-Hippolyte, Que.) Ouellette posted .967 save percentage (68 saves) in two road wins vs. No. 3 Boston Col-lege. He made a career-high 34 saves in Maine’s 4-1 win on Friday night and stopped 24 shots on Saturday night.

TEAM NOTESBOSTON COLLEGE: Boston College lost a pair of home games to Maine over the weekend by a combined score of 7-2, marking the first time since November 17 (Massachusetts, 3-2), and Nov. 23 (Northeastern, 4-3, in overtime), 2007 that the Eagles had lost consecutive games at Kelley Rink. It also marked the first time that an opponent swept a weekend series at Kelley Rink since the Black Bears defeated BC twice by a combined score of 12-2 on Jan. 22 and Jan. 24, 1993…Forwards Brooks Dyroff and Steven Whitney each played one game at defense over the weekend because of recent injuries to Michael Matheson and Colin Sullivan…Sophomore goaltender Brian Billett recorded his first start of the 2012-13 campaign and finished with 26 saves in the defeat. Billett last recorded a start on Jan. 21, 2012 vs. Maine…Senior Parker Milner had started each of the last 41 games…Sophomore Johnny Gaudreau was held without a point in consecutive games for the first time all sea-son…BC went 9-for-9 on the penalty kill against Maine and is 13-for-13 while skating at a disadvantage in the last three games.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY: The Terriers have won six of their last seven Hockey East road games...Over the past three weeks, no other player in the country has more points than Danny O’Regan, as the freshman has 11 points (4g,7a) in six games. O’Regan’s line has 28 points (13, 15a) during the span as Matt Nieto is tied for second nationally with nine points (4g,5a) and Evan Rodrigues has tallied eight points (5g,3a)...Rodrigues missed Saturday’s game with a hand injury, marking just the second game missed due to injury by a BU player all season...Sophomore Alexx Privitera (Old Tappan, N.J.) blocked eight shots on Saturday and continues to lead the nation in that category with 70...Sophomore Cason Hohmann (Arlington, Texas) is fourth in the nation in plus-minus at +17...Freshman Matt Grzelcyk leads all Hockey East defensemen in assists this season with 14...BU has allowed two or fewer goals in all 13 of its victories this season...Former Terriers Adam Clendening (West) and Eric Gryba (East) will compete in tonight’s AHL All-Star Classic in Providence.
MAINE: Maine swept #3 Boston College at Conte Forum on the week-end… It was Maine’s first win at Conte Forum since Oct. 28, 2005 and the first weekend sweep at Conte Forum since January 1993…Martin Ouel-lette was outstanding for Maine in goal. He went 2-0-0 on the weekend with a 1.00 GAA and a .967 save percentage…He made a career-high 34 saves on Friday and was just nine seconds away from a shutout on Saturday before BC scored at 19:51 of the third period…Freshman Ryan Lomberg has four career goals and three of them have been game-winning goals. He notched the game-winner on Friday against the Eagles…Freshman Will Merchant has two career goals and both of them have come against Boston College. In addition, four of his five career points have been come against the Eagles...Junior Jon Swavely recorded his first career two-goal game on Saturday night vs. BC. They were the first two goals of the season for Swavely, who missed 12 games with an injury…Eight of Maine’s 15 points on the weekend were tallied by freshmen.
MASSACHUSETTS: UMass was above 50% over the dots in both of its games this past weekend against the Catamounts, helping the Minute-men maintain the No. 2 team faceoff winning percentage in the nation, 54.5%...Hockey East’s leader in faceoff percentage, Branden Gracel, ranks eighth nationally at 61.7%...Freshman Shane Walsh assisted on the game-winning goal Friday at Vermont, the fourth time this season he has set up a game-winning tally...UMass’ defensemen provided six points over two games on the weekend, the Minutemen currently lead the nation in defensemen scoring at 0.87 goals per game.
UMASS-LOWELL: UMass Lowell had its winning streak halted with the 4-4 draw at Northeastern but extended its unbeaten streak to 11 games with Saturday’s 5-4 overtime triumph over the Huskies, in which it battled back from a 4-1 deficit with three third-period goals, followed by Christian Folin’s winner in overtime…UMass Lowell is approaching its Division I-era record for consecutive games unbeaten (14). The River Hawks enjoyed an 11-0-3 stretch during the 2004-05 season…UMass Lowell has received 11 goals and 24 assists from its defense over the last 10 games…In its current 11-game unbeaten run, River Hawk fresh-men have accounted for 14 goals and 21 assists…UMass Lowell is 8-3-1 away from home this season and plays five of its next six games...Sophomore Scott Wilson has 7-10-17, all but four assists, away from home this season…Sophomore Brian Robbins came off the bench to play 28 minutes and stop 14 of 15 Northeastern shots in Friday’s 4-4 draw, his first action of the season.
MERRIMACK: Merrimack earned a split with New Hampshire, conclud-ing its best month of the season with a 4-2-1 mark…The Warriors sit in a tie for fifth place with UMass Lowell, who they play Friday, and trail Providence by one point for fourth with a game in hand…All but four of Merrimack’s remaining games are against ranked teams…Mike Collins and Brian Christie each had three-point nights as Merrimack defeated a team ranked in the top-four nationally for the first time since October 30, 2010 (BC)…Collins has 25 points and 1.56 points per game in league games, tops in Hockey East and leads the country with ten points in either the first or final minute of a period this year. Collins has 30 points overall, 17 more than Merrimack’s second-highest scorer…Merrimack’s next win will be Mark Dennehy’s 100th career as Merrimack’s head coach…Captain Jordan Heywood (Regina, Sask.) played in his 101st straight game since coming to Merrimack on Saturday.
NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats earned a split of the home-and-home series with Merrimack this weekend with both teams winning on their home ice…On Friday night, the Warriors scored seven seconds into the third to capture a 3-2 win in North Andover…On Saturday night, UNH bounced back with a convincing 6-2 win over the Warriors at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester in the Battle for the RiverStone Cup xII…On Friday night, Jeff Wyer got his first start of the season in net and responded with a career-high 32 saves…Friday’s loss was the first time all season the team lost back-to-back games in league play all season…In Saturday 6-2 win, ten different Wildcats factored in the scoring with four players with multi-point efforts...UNH matched a season-high with six goals in the win on Saturday…The ‘Cats are 10-0-1 when Trevor van Riemsdyk scores a point…UNH matches its 2011-12 win total by capturing its 15th win on Saturday.
NORTHEASTERN: In Friday’s 4-4 draw, Northeastern snapped a three-game losing streak to UMass Lowell dating back to Jan. 20, 2012. Friday’s 4-4 tie was the first stalemate with the River Hawks in 24 meetings, marking the first since Jan. 21, 2006. The result curbed No. 15 UMass Lowell’s nine-game winning streak. Kevin Roy secured his third career two-goal game, first since taking on UMass (Dec. 1), on Friday against UML and has now accounted for eight multi-point games in 21 outings. Braden Pimm posted a career-high four-game point streak on Saturday night at UMass Lowell. He has accounted for five points (3-2-5) throughout the stretch. Pimm’s two-point performance marks his third multi-point outing of the season and 11th of his career. Saturday’s setback marks NU’s first loss of the season when leading through two periods of play. Prior to Saturday’s game, the Huskies were 7-0-1 when leading after 40 minutes of action.
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE: On Saturday night, the Friars and Terriers played to a tie (3-3) for the first time tying 2-2 at Schneider Arena on Nov. 18, 2005…With the tie, the Friars snapped a six-game losing streak at Agganis Arena...Myles Harvey became the 18th Friar to score a goal this season and his power play tally in the first period of Saturday night’s game was the eighth goal of his career…Shane Luke has two goals (and three points) in his last three games…The Friars are now 9-2-3 when scoring three or more goals and 1-2-4 in overtime games this season…After starting the year 0-6-2 versus ranked opponents, the Friars are 1-1-1 in their last three games (all against ranked teams)…In Friday night’s 3-2 loss to BU, freshman defenseman Will Goss notched his first career point with an assist on Brandon Tanev’s goal ...The Friars have won four Hockey East road games this season, the most for the program since recording six during the 2007-08 season.
VERMONT: Vermont and Massachusetts each picked up 3-2 wins over the weekend in a two-game series at Gutterson Fieldhouse…Five of the last six meetings between the two schools have been decided by one goal…On Friday night, the Catamounts wore special pink jerseys as part of the Hockey East Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer effort…Ver-mont Athletics raised $3,000 for the Vermont Cancer Center through various events during the game…Kyle Reynolds had three tallies in the two contests and now has six goals in six career games against UMass, including a pair of multi-goal games at Gutterson. He has scored four goals in his last four games…Jacob Fallon netted his fifth power play goal of the season and is tied for second in Hockey East in power play goals this season…Chris McCarthy skated in his 100th career game on Saturday, joining seniors Anders Franzon and Tobias Nilsson-Roos in reaching the century mark this season…Brody Hoffman has made at least 30 saves 11 times this season...The Catamounts are 14 for their last 16 on the penalty kill in the last three games after going 6-for-6 on Saturday against the second-best power play in the league.
