• Perth is Australia’s sunniest capital city, experiencing more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, and has a population of more than 2 million people, which is three quarters of WA’s total population of 2.6 million.

• New public spaces have activated Perth and its surrounding cultural hubs, including the waterfront precinct of Elizabeth Quay, 60,000 seat Optus Stadium and Yagan Square, which reconnects the city and Northbridge and is a celebration of WA’s Aboriginal heritage.

• New bars and restaurants have opened across the city, and Perth is now home to more than 93 small bars and 805 restaurants. On the menu you’ll find fresh WA produce and locally sourced wine, beer and spirits. The diversity of nationalities living in Perth has also influenced the variety of cuisines available.

• Perth has also experienced a hotel boom and now offers some of the best value hotel and short-stay accommodation in Australia – since 2012, 35 new or redeveloped hotels have opened.

• Within 30 minutes of the city you can experience the Swan Valley wine region, explore the island playground of Rottnest, discover the historic port city of Fremantle and watch the sun set at one of Perth’s many metropolitan beaches.

Some interesting facts to help you promote WA:• As Australia’s largest state, WA’s varied

landscapes and climates means there’s unique experiences from the Mediterranean south to the tropical north. Experience rugged gorges, pristine beaches, forests, the world’s largest wildflower collection and more than 40,000 years of Aboriginal culture.

• In the South West you will find world-class food and wine, beautiful beaches, surfing, cave systems, tall tree forests, whale-watching, wildflowers and the famous wine region of Margaret River.

• WA’s North West, which includes the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, is one of the world’s last true wilderness areas. Here you’ll find striking gorges and waterfalls, remote stretches of coastal paradise, a rich Aboriginal culture, and World Heritage areas.

• Home to awesome marine life, endless white sandy beaches and the warm, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, WA’s Coral Coast boasts two World Heritage areas; the Ningaloo coast and Shark Bay. Ningaloo Reef is easily accessible from shore, and is the only place in Australia where visitors can swim with the largest fish in the ocean – the gentle whale shark.

• The Golden Outback region, which includes destinations such as Kalgoorlie, Esperance and Wave Rock, is the place to discover historic townships, spectacular desert wilderness, quirky outback charm, gold-rush history and the Southern Ocean’s perfect white beaches complete with resident kangaroos.
