WHY????

1. I HAVE A LOT OF WOMEN IN MY FAMILY2. Many started families reasonably early for this day and age3. I Loved helping them out and caring for them while they were human

incubators 4. Many of them were hard working women that needed a babysitter

The beginning of life is by far the greatest aspect of life!• This is the stage where human beings

grow the most and my love of biology makes this par of developmental psychology extremely interesting to me

ComplicationsI have had many encounters and experiences with pregnant women. However, they weren’t always pleasant outcomes.Statistics show that 70-75% of all conceptions miscarry (About.com, 2015). The first ever delivery I’ve seen was of a stillborn (a baby born dead). It changed my view on pregnancies and made me realize how important each step was.

My professional lifeI am currently a 2nd year Bachelor of Nursing student and plan to graduate and become a registered nurse in the next 2years.

Page 10: Perinatal care

After my DiplomaBeing an RN is my goal but I don’t want to stop there.

There are many areas where registered nurses can specialize in.

I want to specialize in perinatal nursing after I obtain my Bachelor’s degree.

Perinatal NursingPerinatal registered nurses work in partnership with childbearing women and their families, providing education and support that empower their patients with the skills to care for their families.

mother and baby, maintains a sense of calm and comfort during labor, and supports the family;

• Fosters the new mother-infant relationship, teaches parenting skills, and assesses and supports the mother in her recovery from childbirth;

• Evaluates the newborn’s early adjustment to life (OnCourse Learning, 2015)

MY DecisionI never thought I’d do post secondary until I found something I was passionate about.

Then I never imagined even considering doing extra schooling after my 4years were up, but I will push for this goal because I’m really interested in this field
