PRESENTATION
Effective June 2012, Adapta S.p.A. is the new naming of the company that in the past was known as Lavin S.p.A.The name change is due to new market requests and a new and more efficient company strategy which focuses mainly on the integration and quality of the services provided. This choice is perfectly in line with the restyling that, in these last years, regarded the entire Gruppo Innova and that will enhance the market position of each brand of the Group focusing the business on the customer satisfaction. This rebranding will promote a new development strategy and a new market visibility all over the country.
Adapta S.p.A. Industrial Laundries, has a recently constructed plant that extends over a property area of 50,000 m², of which 10,000 m² are indoors.Adapta’s activities, based on advanced technological set-ups, are characterized by approximately 15 million kilograms a year of sanitized linens, 500 employees, 15,000 beds served, 34,000 “dressed” health personnel, 150 groups of operators supplied, for a total of approximately 265,000 surgical procedures carried out per year.
Due to its continuous technological research, its market studies, and a its philosophy geared toward Client satisfaction, Adapta S.p.A. is a company on the cutting edge, able to meet new requirements for the Healthcare system.

Roughly 90% of Adapta’s services involve the Public Administration, with the remaining 10% dedi-
cated mainly to Private Clinics of primary importance.
Adapta is careful to market variations; during the past few years, in its aim to serve as a Healthcare
System partner, it has diversified the gamma of its services, moving from the traditional renting of
linens for hospital wards, operating theaters and personnel uniforms, supplying a renting and disin-
fection service of mattresses and pillows, renting sterile sets for operating rooms with textile barriers,
renting and decontamination of textiles for intensive care units and managing Sterilization Stations,
supplying Clients with a renting service for surgical instruments.
Thus, the concept of supplying the Client is implemented in a service that is global and integral, comprising
management by our own personnel in every operative phase throughout the entire working process.
RENTING, LAUNDERING AND PRESSING OF FOLDED AND PACKAGED LINENSAdapta supplies its Clients with an amount of linens that satisfies the entirety of its healthcare
activities and guarantees ample autonomy.
Moreover, the vast range of available articles allows for a wide selection of styles and colors,
guaranteeing optimal product characteristics.
Each working phase is supported by equipment, materials and vehicles that allow for the partition
and optimal work flow management. The Company personnel attends to every phase of the work
processes, from gathering the soiled linens at the Operative Unit, to the delivery of clean linens, the
set-up of loading and unloading vehicles.
Supported by an IT system that is linked on-line with the Pomezia plant, the operators present at
our Clients’ sites are able to optimize the management of all processes, monitoring flows on a daily
basis and supplying all statistical information related to consumption and costs of each individual
Operative Unit.

OUR SERVICESSUPPLY OF STERILE COTTON AND TEXTILE MATERIAL KITS The textile materials that Adapta provides, such as patient covering
drapes and operating room gowns, are an important element in the pre-
vention of clinical infections.
Depending on their destined use, the materials used are medical devices
that must correspond to specific prerequisites. With the implementation
of the UNI EN 13795 standard series and EU laws, there now exist, for the
first time, certain binding regulations for the qualification of materials for
Operating Room (O.R.), with a series of indefeasible characteristics such as:
• Barrier effect
• Microbiological purity
• Minimal release of particles
• Resistance
The UNI EN 13795 distinguishes two categories of products: Standard Performance (SP) and High
Performance (HP) based on the type of operation, the length of time of the operation, the quantity
of liquids present and the mechanical strain involved.
Minimum release of particlesParticles are considered potential germ carriers. Their production and circulation must, therefore,
be avoided in O.R. The materials that Adapta provides not only stop the migration of skin particles
through the material, but they release extremely few of their own particles as well.
Effective barrier against all liquids present in O.R.Regarding impermeability to liquids, these materials obtain results that are superior to the stan-
dard, since it must be considered that in O.R. liquids such as disinfectants, blood, and secretions are
very often present. These liquids are more critical than water due to their lower superficial tension:
in fact, they penetrate through the materials at much lower pressure.
No possibility of penetration for germs and virusesThe materials Adapta provides, moreover, offer protection against any counter-viruses which may
present even smaller dimensions.
ResistanceThe materials are notably better at resisting mechanical strains than many other materials. Breakage
and rips in O.R. are practically null, even after numerous cycles of reconditioning in the laundry.
RENTING OF SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND SUPPLYING OF STERILE KITSThe Sterilization Department at the Pomezia plant is spread out over a total surface area of roughly
1000 m², 750 m² of which are dedicated to the sterilization of operating room drapes, and the re-
maining 250 m² are used for reprocessing surgical instruments by wash, maintenance and steriliza-
tion activities. In some cases these operation are managed by Adapta staff directly in the hospitals.

OUR SERVICESPLANNING AND MANAGEMENT OF STERILIZATION PLANTSIn the past few years, the concept of sterilization in Healthcare Facilities has changed notably with the
implementing of European Directive 93/42/CE, concerning medical guidelines. This law’s regulatory
aspects have affected not only the sector’s personnel, but also strategic decisions made by Healthcare
Companies.
Today, the Sterilization Plant represents an advantage for hospital facilities, in that:
• it allows the hospital to plan its treatment of surgical instruments by using standard methods;
• it reduces personnel dedicated to this function compared with the current situation, which
uses obsolete, individual plants displaced within operating blocks;
• it permits the optimization of equipment;
• it guarantees traceability of the surgical kit used, relating to the specific patient.
In particular, the Adapta project’s focus tends to exalt every possibility, geared to the total safeguar-
ding of the assets of the products treated, along with a harmonious distribution and dimensioning
of spaces, with a consequent rationalization of material and personnel flow; this guarantees not only
the necessary security and livability of the environment for all concerned, but also the imposition of
a rational productivity.

OUR SERVICES
The purpose of High Visibility work clothing is to give a visible
sign of the worker’s presence in dangerous situations, guaran-
teeing his or her safety in any and all atmospheric conditions
and in daylight or nighttime. While the upkeep of most work
clothes defined as “PPE” is solved mainly in a laundry process
that comprises checking the state of wear of the garment, it is
a different matter for High Visibility work wear.
Adapta, also supported by Companies operating in the textile
field and recognized at national and international levels, has
imposed upon itself a self-regulation based on the UNI EN 471.
At the end of the laundry and finishing phases, every garment
is transported to an area in which there has been set up an
automatic system that checks each characteristic parameter, in
order to verify that the minimum requisites as required by UNI
EN 471 have been reached.
In particular, the following are noted:
• the x and y color coordinates, and the illumination factor
of the base material;
• the coefficient per unit area of the R luminous intensity of the
refractive bands;
• the minimum area of visible material in comparison with the
class to which it belongs.
At the end of the checking process, a document is released
which allows for the visualization of the results of the measu-
rements, and the determination of a garment’s falling within
specific technical guidelines as set out in UNI EN 471.

COMPANY CERTIFICATION
UNI EN ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION
Adapta S.p.A. currently operates following a scheme set out by UNI EN ISO 9001.
A quality management model was implemented in Adapta as early as 1993, but only towards the
end of 1995 did it undergo verification from a third-party authority that issued the Certificate
testifying to Adapta’s capacity to guarantee the quality of its activities.
CE MARKING FOR STERILE KITS (textiles and surgical instruments)The Quality criteria applied in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9001, adopted
by Adapta since 1993 for its central laundering plant, were immediately applied
to the STERILIZATION PROCESS, also in concordance with UNI EN ISO 13485.
Adapta is a producer of medical devices such as sterile sets for the operating field, consisting
of surgical gowns, drapes and surgical instruments for the operating theater, all of whose reconditio-
ning and preparation must be held to very strict operative protocols.
Adapta has had CE certified approval since May 1988 for textiles, and September 2005 for surgi-
cal instruments, as set out in European Directive 93/42/CE, attachment V, as emended by Directive
2007/47/CE. The certification is released by a Notified Body that is recognized by the Italian Health
Ministry for medical devices.
This is the result of a strong effort which has allowed Adapta to implement an in-depth analysis and
updating of its activities and its in-company processes and procedures, with the goal of assuring its
Clients of integral services that adhere to high-quality standards.spaces, with a consequent rationali-
zation of material and personnel flow; this guarantees not only the necessary security and livability of
the environment for all concerned, but also the imposition of a rational productivity.

COMPANY CERTIFICATION
UNI EN 14065 CERTIFICATION
Customers require specialized industrial laundries for the rental and repair of linen and workwear,
offering products visibly clean and free of stains, pleasant, fragrant odor-free and with a fine design.
This multisensory cleaning are determined during the wash cycle by means of physical and chemical
treatments, the combination of which greatly reduces the probability of survival of microorganisms
on textiles.
The need to avoid microbiological contamination of crucial importance in every phase of treatment.
In the services sector textile system RABC (Risk Analysis Biocontamination Control System) provides a
set level of microbiological quality according to the use of various textile and microbiological quality
requirements related to it. To this end, Adapta applies the requirements of European standard EN
14065. The use of good manufacturing practices, as well as the application of a quality system, are
the prerequisites for the achievement of a defined microbiological quality.
UNI EN ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION
Adapta has placed its attention not only on improving its products/services, but also on developing
its processes and their potential impact on the environment, including those related to the working
conditions of its own employees.
In 1997, Adapta was one of two companies chosen, from a much larger group, to participate in the
QUAIS Project, promoted by the Department of the Environment of the Province of Rome, and
geared toward companies and industrial activities which, if they conformed to environmental laws,
could have the possibility of experiencing the feasibility of implementing and developing mana-
gement systems integrated for quality, environment, hygiene and safety.
In March 2000, activities were begun that brought about Adapta’s certification under the ISO 14001
Regulation for the Environmental Management System.

SA8000 CERTIFICATION
Adapta with his experience of a company specialized to serve as a Healthcare system partner and
to operate in a trade so critical for the welfare of the community, is aware that the quality of the
services provided is strictly linked to the health, the safety, the wellness and the involvement of its
workers in the production process.
Accordingly, the company, after the implementation of a management system integrated for
quality, environment and hygiene (according to UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 13485, UNI EN ISO
14001, UNI EN ISO 14065 ), obtained, in December 2004, the System Certification Social
Responsibility in accordance with the Standard SA 8000.
The characteristics of Standard SA8000
can be summed up as follows:
• it defines precise reference requisites
in terms of Social Responsibility;
• it represents a form of self-checking
adopted voluntarily by the Organiza-
tions;
• it is planned out in such a way as to
respect the laws of each Country
• it represents a reference point allowing
suppliers to evaluate Firms;
