Cathy Stenza: [email protected]

Members Only

Reservation deadline: March 30

Please join us for our Annual Meeting and listen to our Speakers, Robert and Carole Leher, who are

the authors of Naples Beach Homes Cottages, Castles, and the Families that Built Them.

Have you ever wondered about the Homes and Families right on Naples Beach? Naples residents, Robert and

Carole Leher, have published their 252 page coffee table book, NAPLES BEACH HOMES; COTTAGES,

CASTLES, AND THE FAMILIES THAT BUILT THEM. The Leher’s spent the past three years talking with

homeowners, gathering their stories about living on the beach. The book will invite us to spend some time

along the beach in Naples. Rob and Carol will take us on a journey back in time to explore some of the historic

houses that graced the beach in days gone by.

The book is a combination of yesterday and today, infused with the personal stories of the families who call

Naples their home. They have some very interesting and exciting stories to tell us, so don’t miss this luncheon!

In addition to our Speakers, we will hold our Annual Election of Officers for the 2016-2017 years.

Our menu will be: Salad of Rabbit Run Baby Greens, Julienne Jicama and Granny Smith Apples, Dried

Strawberries with Champagne Vinaigrette. Our entrée will be Oven Roasted Pork Loin with Natural Jus,

Mediterra, 15836 Savona Way, Naples, FL 34110 Open to members and guests

Valet parking is a must! Registration Deadline: May 4

Author Marsha Moore Our Speaker for this luncheon will be Marsha “Crystal” Moore, author of the book “The Shrinking Belt”. Marsha was tired of diet foods that tasted like cardboard. Her book is a no-brainer for losing weight. She was diagnosed with sleep apnea and doctors commented that it’s possible to avoid using the C-Pap device by losing twenty to twenty-five pounds. This motivated her to learn how to substitute the foods she was eating. Come to this luncheon and hear Marsha discuss the ways that she lost her weight and how she’s maintained her weight loss since 2010. There is no guesswork in learning how to shop your EZ way to skinny. Marsha will also share her dining out secrets and many weight loss tips. Our menu will be: A Plated Lunch of Chicken Florentine Quiche; Artisan Greens and Fresh Vegetable Salad with Herb Vinaigrette. Our dessert will be a wonderful Peanut Butter Bar

To order the alternative menu, please contact

COMMUNITY OUTREACH GROUPS OPEN TO ALL WOMEN RESIDENTS OF PELICAN BAY

COMMUNITY OUTREACH is our designation for some of the PBWL former Interest Groups whose purpose is to

reach outside of Pelican Bay. Their activity positively impacts the greater Naples community and beyond. We’re very happy to have them represent the League in these important ways. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PB KNEEDLERS Jeannette O'Connor, 594-8179; Lois Sabatino, 598-2369, [email protected];

Hallie Devlin (593-1353) The League-supported Pelican Bay Kneedlers, always welcome others to join this creative and satisfying group. If you are accomplished, that's wonderful, but don't worry if you can't knit or crochet. We have patient master craftspeople who love to teach! Just come to the Community Center on Thursdays between 10AM and noon to join this good-natured group who enjoy helping others. We knit, crochet and quilt wheelchair blankets for our Wounded Warriors recuperating in VA hospitals throughout the country, having given these deserving men and women more than 3,000 so far. While this is our major patriotic goal, we also make prayer blankets and shawls for nursing homes and hospitalized patients, and for outpatients undergoing dialysis in Naples. We have fun creating finger puppets and other toys for needy children and knit and crochet hats, mittens and scarves for youngsters. We recently created these items for the more than 200 children whose town was leveled by a tornado as winter set in. Chemo patients appreciate hats we give them, and we make other items as needs arise. DONATIONS OF YARN, NEEDLES AND PATTERN BOOKS ARE VERY WELCOME AND NEEDED. THANK YOU!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PBWL SPEAKER SERIES, WOMEN MAKING A DIFFERENCE, Nancy Colodny, [email protected].
Creating your unique personal style March 28 - Debbie Doyle, “Iran Today”. Debbie will share photos and impressions from her May, 2015 trip to Iran with the World Affairs Council. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AT HOME COFFEE Suzanne Rioux, [email protected], 207-752-3305, Shirley Linton, [email protected], 239-592-533
A big “Thank You” to Jeri Blair for hosting the March coffee!
We all had such a great time! Thanks Jeri!
Our next At-Home Coffee is scheduled for: Wednesday, April 20th at 10:00AM.
Our hostess will be Jan Abram in Oakmont
Reservations can be made by contacting Suzanne or Shirley (contact information is listed above.) Please do
so right away if you want to be added to the list. Directions and information will be given when we reconfirm
the week before the event.
We meet monthly for coffee and conversation in the home of a League member. After a bit of socializing, we
sit around, introduce ourselves and take two minutes each to talk about the pre-chosen “topic-of-the-day.”
What makes it interesting is that everyone has a different personal story or anecdote to share. This coffee is
open to all women of the PBWL and those who attend often return because they enjoy it so much. New
members are always welcome; it’s a great way to really get to know one another.
