ENOUGH is enough! This is what the community of
KwaNobuhle township in Uitenhageis saying about rampant crime thatis tearing the area apart.
A prayer meeting has been calledby the Community Police Forum(CPF) in conjunction with the SA Po-lice Service (SAPS), the Departmentsof Justice and Education at the BabsMadlakane Community Hall inKwaNobuhle tomorrow (Thursday)
from 9am.According to CPF Secretary Nom-
fusi Titi, the increase in the numberof cases of rape of disabled childrenand the elderly in the area demandedtheir action.
“Seeing the youth, includingschool-going children, abusing drugsand being involved in crime hascalled us into action,” said Titi.
According to Titi, young peopleare being used to sell drugs inschools by the drug-lords andthrough this they get deeper anddeeper into crime.
We have been to schools to givetalks but perhaps a prayer to the Al-mighty could just be what we need tochange things around in this area,”said Titi.
About 11 local churches includingPastor Ningi of Kingfisher FM Radiohave responded positively to their in-vitationandhavegiven their support.
“This Prayer Against Crime ispart of a Moral Regeneration Move-ment event. It is the first of its kindin KwaNobuhle and we believe it’sgoing to be a resounding success,”said Titi.

IF the Nelson Mandela Baymetropole does not get its 25buses that are part of the Inte-grated Public Transport Systemon the road soon, it will mostprobably forfeit its R183 mil-lion government subsidy.
According to a report that wassubmitted in last week’s council
meeting, the national treasury andnational transport department em-phasized during a recent visit tothe metro that the integratedtransport system must be imple-mented by September, otherwisethe R183 million will be given toanother municipality that can putthe money to good use.
The metro’s legal counsel, Adv.Mhleli Tshamase, at last week’spresentation said the metro hadbrought forward the deadline for
itself and wanted to have an inte-grated transport system in opera-tion in July.
“The national government in-sists that the project should be im-plemented, otherwise the fundingfor the following financial yearswill be significantly reduced,”Tshamase pointed out.
Die Burger reported earlier thatthe introduction of the integratedtransport system was hampered bythe lawsuit between the secondary
taxi co-operative Laphumilangaand Port Elizabeth Districts andTaxi association.
This association was, amongother things, dissatisfied with theimplementation of the bus servicepilot project on its taxi route(Walmer and Summerstrand).
The association obtained a courtorder to delay the implementationof the bus service temporarily.
Part of the court ruling was thatthe process should be restarted.
The process has meanwhile beencompleted and the implementationof the transport system is up andrunning.
According to the report Laphu-milanga, on behalf of the taxi oper-ators, supported the bus project.
) In 2010 the metro purchaseda total of 24 concertina buses andan ordinary bus at a cost of R100million. More than R250 millionwas also spent on the roads net-work.
Metro must establish Integrated Public Transport System or lose subsidy

“I do not want to know about mari-juana, bad girls, drinking, sneakingaround at night and mischief any-more.”
These were the wordsof Ngobese last week, moments before he anda large group of prison-ers were released. Hehas been given sixmonths off his sentenceof eighteen months forburglary and theft aspart of President JacobZuma’s Freedom Daypledge.
And this previouslyreckless taxi driverfrom Uitenhage is notgoing to take thischance to leave prisonlightly.
“I have prepared my-self to be in prison for along time. To now sud-denly taste freedom, is asign that there is a planfor my life. I don’t wantto hurt others anymore. Before I got here, peopleon the street pointedfingers at me and start-ed screaming in fearwhen they saw me. Iwant them to shout forjoy now when they seeme.” Ngobese said hehad learnt how to drive
as a young boy when he had to act aschauffeur to his drunk grandfather. As a teenager he would go for joyrideson his own on Sunday afternoons.
“I was very dangerous. I would firstdrink alcohol and smoke marijuanaand then I would be able to drive bluesmoke out of the car.”
He said that the fact that he had acar made him irresistible to girls, andhe was very irresponsible in the wayhe dealt with them.
Healsodrovepeople fromtheneigh-bourhood around to make money forliquor and drugs. What he lacked, hemade up by breaking in and stealing.
Five months ago he ended up in theSt. Albans prison and he says it’s thebest thing that ever happened to him.He completed programmes on inter-personal relationships and angermanagement, and also discovered theMuslim faith. “The prison saved mylife. The man who is walking out heretoday is not the same man who walkedin here.”
Ngobese thanked Pres. Zuma for thesecond chance and said he would defi-nitely not disappoint him.

THE chairperson of Motherwell Netball Asso-ciation (MONA) Ntomboxolo Limani is satis-fied with the development of netball in the ar-ea.
Speaking to PE Express Indaba on Monday, former netball great Limani said teams arelearning new things every day and she washappy with the way team-leaders stick to therules and regulations of the game.
With two teams failing to pitch for theirmatches at the weekend, Limani said they asan association had not received any reasonwhy the teams did not honour the fixtures butwere sure to speak to the leaders about it intoday’s meeting at the Motherwell Police Sta-tion Hall today (Wednesday) from 6 pm.
“Failure of the teams to attend matches is
a problem but we cannot judge them until wehear their reasons. Of course, we do deductsoft-points against teams failing to appear formatches, according to the netball rules. Tocontinue to lose soft-points, however, has itsown disadvantages at the end of the seasonand that we’ll explain to them in today’s meet-ing,” said Limani.
