List of Non-Technical Challenges • Business Agreements:
– Before pilots can begin exchanging messages, they need to have a business agreement in place. It is taking pilots much longer than anticipated to complete the business agreements. Once the agreements are in place, the actual testing of messages takes relatively little time.
• Resources to complete pilots: – Intermediaries/ Hubs have been essential parties in pilot
work. In particular the ones whom multiple pilot organizations depend on to use their PMPI Gateway. In order to continue the pilot work, we need to be mindful of their timeline and resources.
– State resources may be limited or change, presenting a barrier or delay to participation
List of Non-Technical Challenges • Test data vs live data:
– Pilot organizations need specific credentials to access certain databases. This will vary by state and pilot team but could delay the piloting effort.
• Clarification of PMP Governance Rules on Key Issues:– Health IT vendors need clarification on PMP governance
rules to solve key issues, e.g., what PMP report information has to be presented to the end user.
Next Steps
• All PDMP Community Meetings going forward will be pilot working session meetings
– Meetings will be held bi-weekly for the remainder of the summer
• Next Meeting will be held Tuesday, September 1st
