Power 832 Application Notes – Pager Application: The panel can be programmed to report events (open/close, alarm/restore, trouble/res tore) to a pager. The panel will dial th e programmed telephon e number then send the account number and reporting code fol lowed by the [#] key. The panel will atte mpt to send the  page one time on ly. Applications: 1. This can be used as ‘latch key’. The panel will send an opening page to inform a parent that their child got home safely from school. 2. This can be used to send openings/closi ngs to a business owner. 3. This can be used to inform a key holder of an alarm. 4. This can be used to inform a service technicia n of a trouble condition. Special Notes: 1. If you want to report to both the central station and the pager, the automatic SIA format must be used. 2. You cannot page HEX digits. Program Sections: Section [302] Second Telephone Number  Se ct ion [310] to [311] – Par ti ti on Acc ount Number s Se ct io n [ 320] to [3 53] – Rep or ti ng Co de s Section [360] Communicator Formats Se cti on [ 361 ] t o [ 368] – Communi cat or Cal l Dire cti on Opt ion s Procedure: Step 1 – Program the Phone Number – Section [302] The panel immediately sends the account number and reporti ng code after dialing the pager number. A  pause must be progra mmed after the pager number so the pager company has time to answer and give the acknowledge beeps. Program the HEX dig it [E] after the phone numbe r for a two second pause. Several HEX digit [E]’s may be required. Call the pager phone number from the premise and time the delay and  program the phone number accordingl y. Example- Pager Phone Number - 5551212 Program - D5551212EEEE (four [E]’s for an 8 second pause) In this example the panel will pick up the phone, wait for dial tone then dial the pager phone number (5551212), wait 8 seconds then transmit the account number, reporting code followed by the [#] key. Some pagers require access codes to be entered or [*] and [#] key presses. The following is a list of the HEX digits and the function they perform: HEX [A] digit ‘0’ HEX [D] dial tone search HEX [B] touch tone [*] key HEX [E] two second pause HEX [C] touch tone [#] key HEX [F] end of phone number indicator

Procedure:

Step 1 – Program the Phone Number – Section [302]

The panel immediately sends the account number and reporting code after dialing the pager number. A

 pause must be programmed after the pager number so the pager company has time to answer and give the

Step 2 – Program the Account Number – Section [310] and [311]

Program the account number normally.

Step 3 – Program Reporting Codes – Sections [320] to [353]

Program any two digit reporting code for all events that will be reported to the pager. Since the signals willnot be sent to central station, you are not limited in any way. Enter any 2 digit numeric (not HEX) code. If 

signals are being sent to both the central station and the pager, you must use the automatic SIA format.

When the panel reports to central station, it will ignore the programmed reporting code and automatically

generate the correct signal to the central station.

Step 4 – Program the Communicator Format – Section [360]

Program the second phone number as format [05] for pager.

Step 5 – Program the Call Direction Options – Sections [361] to [368]

The Call Direction Options allow you to select which phone number certain events will be reported to. InSections [361] to [368] determine whether the events will be reported to central station or the pager.

-  events reported to central station turn Option [1] ON turn Option [2] OFF

-  events reported to pager turn Option [1] OFF turn Option [2] ON

-  events to report to both turn Option [1] ON turn Option [2] ON
