“Let’s press on in faith!”

Thank you and blessings upon you both!

Today we farewell David and Ruth, our interim

pastoral couple. We are deeply indebted to you both

for your willingness to travel to us each week, your

friendship, your love and your leadership. We have been so blessed.

As you conclude this time of service among us, we thank Jesus for

giving you to us. We now pray a blessing upon you for these next

several months and look forward with much anticipation to the

possibility of your returning to us later in the year.

It is not lost upon us that history has been created during your time here

- no one among us can ever recall a service having to be cancelled. And

not once, but twice! You will be pleased to know that we don't hold

you responsible!! Go with our love and our prayers.

Your many friends at Portland Baptist

Thank You!!

To all the movers and shakers who created another great

Trash/Treasure/Market Day yesterday! Special thanks to

Debbie and Mission Support Group for your organisation

and hard work. Thanks to everyone who ran a stall, those

who baked, served, donated, delivered, ran errands, set-up or cleaned-

up, you’re worth your weight in gold. Thanks to all who were customers!

What a timely way to work together for the benefit of the Church

Building Fund, and also to support those tireless workers of the

Northern Territory, Norm and Karen Roberts, who will visit us in two

weeks’ time.

Starting the day with Prayer

It has been suggested that a Prayer Meeting will be held

each Sunday morning in Church House before church,

rather than second Sunday afternoons. The first of these

meetings as a trial run will be held next Sunday, 13th

May from 9:15 - 9:45am. Everyone is of course

welcome to join in during any or all of this time.

Page 3: PBC Bulletin - May 6

Our weekly Prayer Group meeting

is held each Tuesday at the Church

House from 10:30-11:30am.

Everyone is encouraged to join in

this vital ministry. You will find a

very warm welcome there!

A former pastor graduates

Those who have had a long association with our fellowship

will be saddened to hear of the passing of a dear friend,

Pastor Colin Howlett, last Thursday morning. Colin and

Lorna exercised a wonderful six year ministry among us

back in the 1960's.

Of the many gifts Colin exercised, his ministry to those in hospital was

widely known and appreciated. Some of our current friends and members

who have been in hospital in Melbourne have been blessed by this special

gift.

Over many years, Colin's love for Christ and his loving concern for

people was unswerving. Pray for Lorna and the family as they give

thanks for Colin and adjust to life without his presence.
