We have recently forwarded our Christmas Day offering and a little extra, a total of $1,358

to the ALWS Christmas Action Appeal. Here’s their response.

THANK YOU

Dear Members of Langmeil Lutheran Church, Thank you so much for hearing my plea to

help people forced from their homes in East Africa, especially those now losing hope at the

seemingly endless challenges they face.

Your donation will go straight to work in practi-cal action like building Child Friendly Spaces

in refugee camps. There will be shelters where children and young people can meet,

play equipment, and sometimes multi-purpose basketball courts. Here, new friends are

made, games played, and fun had. Young people use up energy, and have an escape from the boredom that can lead to despair.

You also support children to go to school. You

help build classrooms — both in refugee camps, and in the communities in places like

South Sudan, when it's safe for families to return. Education equips children to build a better future, and is a gift no one can ever

take away.

Your kindness this Christmas through ALWS is an ongoing blessing, and I praise God for

your generosity. Thank you!

.WHAT IS ‘REGULAR ELECTRONIC

GIVING’?

REG is a simple way of making your offering every Sunday without cash, directly from your

account into our congregation's LLL REG account. Transfers can be weekly, fortnightly,

monthly, etc. REG keeps things confiden-tial. We receive no information about your identity or the amount. Applic. forms in the

Link, or church office.

As an example, here’s the devotion for Thursday January 23 … ____________________________________

The Holy Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go over to that carriage and stay close to it’. Philip ran over and heard him reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. He asked him, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ The official replied, ‘How can I under-stand unless someone explains it to me?’ And he invited Philip to climb up and sit in the carriage with him. (Acts 8:29-31) How would you like to go adventuring? I’m not talking about white-water rafting or a Himalayan trek, but I am talking about something equally exciting. I’m talking about adventuring with the Holy Spirit. That’s what Philip did. He and the Holy Spirit went together to the Gaza road leading south from Jerusalem. Together they approached a carriage, spoke to the occupant, accepted the invitation to climb aboard, and togeth-er they brought to someone the good news of Jesus. You and the Holy Spirit can do equally wonderful things today, with the Spirit as the power and you as the channel. The Spirit can direct you as to where to go, who to speak to, and how to talk about what God and his love mean to you in your life. Adventuring together with the Holy Spirit is not only the adventure of a lifetime. It’s also an adventure for a lifetime. Holy Spirit, I’m ready to go adventuring with you. Amen.
