Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Basics

• The higher and more frequently a website appears in search results, the more visits it will receive from the search engine users. These visits are called organic visits.

• Visits can also be generated through paid advertising via services like AdWords.

• Search Engines such as Google produce results forany given keyword using various factors like the content, location, social buzz, back links, and technical soundness of the web page.

• Location is increasingly critical in search result relevance. Search results are based on your behaviour on each of devices you use and your location.

• The algorithms used by search engines are complex. They are also secretly guarded so that no one can game the system.

The SEO Industry• The SEO industry is a multi billion dollar industry worldwide and lots of

companies use several white hat and black hat techniques to create

better search results for their clients.

• White Hat methods are those that are acceptable by search engines.

Black Hat SEOs use unethical methods, such as keywords stuffing to

boost search rankings.

• With billions of web pages and millions of search queries for various

searches, it is critical for businesses to build search engine optimized

websites to not be lost in the crowd.

• A well optimized site will aid in the discovery of a business for relevant

search strings.
