Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the manthat walketh not in the counsel ofthe ungodly, nor standeth in theway of sinners, nor sitteth in theseat of the scornful. But his de-light is in the law of the LORD;and in his law doth he meditateday and night.
God describes the life of the man who avoids the input of the ungodly and delightsin God’s Word with the word “blessed”. This word means “happy.” This happinessis not some emotional high happiness or giddiness of excitement. It is not a sub-stance induced euphoria (the best some people will ever have.) This happinessis the fulfilled satisfaction from the totality of circumstances of life lived beforeGod.
This satisfaction begins with a persistent acknowledgement of God in life. Sucha person rejects the views and opinions of those that reject God. He thinks aboutGod and His will perpetually (“day and night”). He (or she) is someone whoknows, cares, and responds to what God says, not just on Sunday, but everyday.
The result of such a life is that…”he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers ofwater, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; andwhatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:3) A person who delights to hearfrom God will experience a stability, fruitfulness and wholesomeness of life wit-nessed in a life that matters!
