INTRODUCTIONThis ma nua l provides informa tion for the following

QR-25 Series, Model 325 (Record of Change 105)

compressor versions:

P Control Version Pplain head assembly & no controls

L Control Version Lhead a ssembly with 1 unloader t ower &

a hy dra ulic unloa der

S Control Version Shead a ssembly with 2 unloa der towers &

a pilot valve

LS Control Version LShead a ssembly with 2 unloa der towers,

a hydraulic unloader, & a pilot valve

w ith a check valve assembly

LVD Control Version LVDhead a ssembly with 2 unloa der towers,

a hydraulic unloader, & a pilot valve

with a lockout & check valve

These compressors are aircooled, two stage, two

cylinder, pressure lubricated compressors, w ith up

to 200 p.s.i. continuous pressure capability (201 to

500 p.s.i. in term it tant pressur e capabil i ty w it h pr oper

confi gur ati on; consul t factory) . The Model 325 ha s a

4.5" low pressure piston bore and a 2.5" high pres-

sure piston bore and a 3" str oke and can be run at

400-900 r.p.m.

belt guard or any other required safety equipment.

sists of unload ing ar ra ngements on the suction valves,

having a plunger to contact the suction valve disc

and an unloader pilot valve (part no.s 110832-***,

a nd 111422-*** & 111423-***) to a ut oma t ica lly regu-lat e the pa ssing of receiver pressure to t he unload-

ing arra ngement.

for use on Quincy compressors w here t he compres-

sor is to run continuously a nd a consta nt pressure is

to be ma inta ined. The purpose is to a utoma tically

unseat the suction valve of the compressor wh en the

air supply is great er than the demand.

OperationOperationOperationOperationOperationUnloading occurs when receiver pressure is suffi-cient to overcome pilot valve spring pressure. The

check ball is t hen unsea ted, a llowing receiver pres-

sure to pass to the unloading arrangements. The

compressor will run unloaded until the receiver

pressure drops to a predetermined level. At this

time, the a ction of the ba ll is reversed, shutt ing off

receiver pressure to the unloader ar ra ngement a nd

venting th e unloa der to a tmosphere. This a llows the

compressor t o loa d. The dr ive, either electr ic motor

or combustion engine, runs continuously a nd m ust

be start ed and stopped manua lly .

Pilot valve 111423-*** can be locked out, formodels equipped wit h dua l control, to provide aut o-

ma tic sta rt /stop opera tion. The knurled knob a t t he

top of the pilot ca n be tur ned clockwise, unt il it st ops,

to lock it out. A pressure sw itch is req uired t o stop

the motor. Failure to use a pressure swit ch, with t he

pilot va lve locked out , could result in uns a fe condi-

tions.

A pressure switch mus t be incorporated whenever pi lo t

valve 111423-*** is employed as part of the contro l syst em.

The compressor w ill opera te in t he cont inous run

mode if th e knurled knob is turned counterclockw ise

until it st ops.

using a minim um of 3/8" o.d. copper tu be. Compres-

sors in the field, not equipped with a suction va lve

unloader assembly, can be converted to constant

speed. Consult your local Quincy Compressor Dis-

tr ibutor for a ssista nce with conversion procedures.

the pilot valve t o make sure t hey a re free of obstruc-

tions. If they become clogged, remove and clean or

repla ce. In spect t he " o"ring loca ted in the opposite

end of the pilot valve body for wear or damage;repla ce if necessary .

lat ed by turning the hex nut (ma rked "unload a dj."

The differential (difference between unloading

a nd loading pressure) is set by t urning t he hex nut

(marked "differential adj." in the cross sectional
