Dreams do come true. Parker Compound Bows, Inc. is living proof of this. In 1984, after a very successful career with Bear Archery, Parker

founder and present-day CEO Bob Errett pioneered a vision—a vision that quickly took flight.

Today, 1,200 retail outlets across the United States and Canada carry the Parker bow line. And Parker doesn’t plan on stopping there. The future for this veteran company is as bright as the Vegas Strip, and the innovation seems to be endless.

In 2010, the Parker Inferno was a hot commodity. Hunters far and wide appreciated the bow’s durability, compact design (30.375 axle to axle) and generous arrow speed. Its economi-cally friendly price tag coupled with numerous innovative features ensured that plenty of archers were eager to wrap their hands around the Inferno’s slim two-piece walnut grip—and most didn’t let go.

If you didn’t get a chance to try out the Inferno last year, don’t fret. It’s back and better than ever in 2011. Still throbbing with head-turning technology, this feather-light 3.75-pound killer now comes as part of an attractive package. I should also mention that the original features that made the Inferno so popular—like the adjustable Inferno Single Cam, extreme parallel-limb design, Deluxe Roller Cable Guard, tunable String Suppressor and premium Stone Mountain Strings—haven’t gone anywhere.

Six Carbon Express Mutiny ArrowsRevered as one of the premier arrow manufacturers in the archery industry, Carbon Express pours genius into every shaft it produces. I found the Mutiny to be fast, durable and accurate regardless of distance. And thanks to its Diamond-coat finish, the Mutiny pulls easily from any target. Laser sorted for consistency, Mutiny arrows from Carbon Express are the perfect match for the deadly Inferno.

The Black Gold AMP Fiber-Optic Sight and Trophy Ridge Whisker Biscuit Rest are two quality accessories that come installed and ready to go on the Inferno. The brightness of the sight keeps your pins on the target, and the reliability of the rest means arrows will leave the bow in a crisp, clean manner.

holding four arrows, the one-piece quiver sports a sound-dampening, replaceable hood liner and replaceable arrow holders that accept both carbon and aluminum shafts. The flip-style lever makes it a breeze to put on and take off the bow.

Six Tru-Fire T1 Broadheads and Six Match-Weight 100-Grain Field PointsBroadheads bring home the backstraps. Parker knows this and has included six Tru-Fire T1 broadheads in the Inferno FireStorm Package. Featuring a ferrule machined from a solid piece of steel and a first-ever Spring Retention System, the T1s fly like field points, create massive hemorrhaging and are virtually indestructible. Testing showed the T1s made an ideal partner for the Mutiny arrows. Also included are six match-weight 100-grain field points for effective practice.

Look at all that! Parker has gone to great lengths to ensure that those who pur-chase this package receive a quality setup that is ready for the hunting woods.

Aggressively cut vents in the Inferno’s machined-aluminum riser give the bow an airy, lightweight feel. Plus, the riser is short, making it ideal for ground blinds and tight treestands.

The roller-style cable guard completely encompasses the bow’s cables and reduces friction as the bow is drawn. Set at 70 pounds, my Inferno was a joy to pull back. There were no glitches, humps or catches, and transition into its 80-percent letoff was very gradual. Then comes the concrete back wall. This wall is made possible by the draw stop on the Inferno Cam System, which rotates around and quietly impacts the bow’s inner limb. This direct contact between the draw stop and limb allows no room for give or creep, creating a firmness that is second to none. As is the case with most smooth-drawing bows, the Inferno lets down with a controlled ease. The Inferno is the type of bow you never get tired of shooting. It’s a bow that keeps you on the practice range longer, giving you the confidence this sport requires.

Adding a little icing to the cake, Parker made the Inferno’s draw stop infinitely adjustable, meaning that the bow can be fine-tuned to match each archer’s exact draw-length. And should a longer draw-length be needed, don’t worry—Parker includes two interchangeable modules with the Inferno. The modules are easily changeable thanks to the simplicity behind the Inferno’s Cam System; one module takes the Inferno from 26 to 28 inches and the other from 29 to 31 inches.

At the shot the Inferno is reasonably quiet and emits very little vibration— definitely not what you’d expect from a bow in this price range. It delivers arrows, both heavy and light, with spot-on accuracy. The Inferno also delivers broad-heads with exceptional precision even at extended distances. And the high-perfor-mance Stone Mountain Strings proved to be exceptional. Like I said before, the Parker Inferno is just a fun bow to shoot.

Parker has legions of fans, and after testing this bow and all its accessories, I can

see why. Parker has been a trusted name in the outdoors for a long time. By producing top-quality bows like the Inferno, it will forever keep that legacy. K

bow cases. The shell is rigid and built to withstand seasons of rugged abuse. SKB’s Perfect Match valence bending system ensures an ultra-tight lid-to-case bond, which locks out dirt, moisture and other equipment cancers. The inside of the case boasts plush lining and EPS inserts for superior protection. Its water-jet-cut polyethylene-foam arrow system holds a dozen arrows, and the case weighs a mere 11 pounds.

An Economical MarvelA bow with this much innovation and added accessories has to break the bank, right? Wrong! Just for fun I punched some numbers into my calculator before ever peeking at the price tag on the FireStorm Package. The number on my calculator screen was well above the $799.95 MAP listed on Parker’s website. The Parker Inferno FireStorm Package is one of the best deals in archery—period.

Critters Beware! Compact and feather-light, the Parker Inferno is a fun bow to shoot. The two-piece walnut-finish grip is inviting and gives the bow a classy look. The walnut tapers toward the top of the throat near the shelf, creating a perfect palm-swell cradle that really reduces torque.

The riser, though short, promotes a very balanced shot. Its airy look, created by aggressively cut vents, greatly aids in the Inferno’s overall 3.75-pound weight rating. Another notable attribute of this machined-aluminum riser is the thumb-carry groove machined into its shelf. I found it to be both form-fitting and comfortable during transport.

At the top and bottom of the riser are durable, extreme-parallel limbs held firmly in place by the micro-lite vented limb pockets. Designed with performance in mind, these limbs proved to be very stout and presented little to no forward limb thrust.

Most pleasing to me was the Inferno’s silky draw cycle.
