Transcript of Parkdean | Sid & Lizzie Brochure
One calm autumn morning in
Startown, the day after a big
storm, Sid the Seagull and
Lizzie the Lizard had just
woken up.
“What shall we do today,
Lizzie?” asked Sid, yawning.
“Why don't we go on a nature
trail?” Lizzie replied.
“Yeah, that's a great idea!”
exclaimed Sid. “Why don't we
go to Startown Woods?”
So they set off on
their adventure...
3
They soon arrived in the small
wood behind Startown and
began searching for bugs. They
had not been there long before
they had found six spiders,
four woodlice, thirty-seven
ants and a worm.
Suddenly, Sid shouted to
Lizzie to come and look at
what he had found. It was
a bug, but it was nothing
like either of them had
ever seen before.
“It's beautiful!”
exclaimed Lizzie.
4
The bug was luminous green
with red spots. It had ten
legs and ten eyes, but
no visible wings.
“Lizzie, look! I
think it's trying to
tell us something,” said
Sid. “We are Sid and
Lizzie, what's your name?”
“I'm Dave the Dodeclice,”
said the bug. “During the big
storm, I was separated from
my family. Can you help me
find them?”
Sid and Lizzie, who could never
turn down an adventure,
agreed to help.
5
“So Dave, is there anything
that you can remember that
might help us?” asked Lizzie.
“Well, there is a flower that
attracts us Dodeclice and it
only grows in one place. So if
we could find that, we could
find my family!”
“That's great!” shouted Lizzie.
“Can you describe it to us?”
“Yes Lizzie, it has green petals,
a red stalk, purple leaves and
orange thorns,” said Dave.
“I have seen that before,” said
Sid. “It grows on Prizebox
Island.”
6
Very soon they were back in
Startown but, unfortunately,
there was no sign of the
rainbow flyer (their magic ship
which was their only mode of
transport) that would allow
them to surf the rainbows to
Prizebox Island!
Just then, they spotted their
friend Sammy the Seal. They
decided to go and ask him if
he'd seen the rainbow flyer.
7
“Hello Sid and Lizzie,” shouted
Sammy. “If you're looking for
the rainbow flyer then I'm
afraid you can't use it today as
a tree fell on it in the storm.
Not to worry though, I should
have it working for tomorrow.”
“TOMORROW!” screamed Dave
in despair. “I will never get
home!”
“Don't worry Dave,” said Lizzie.
“We can still get you home,
we'll just have to build a boat!”
So they gathered up some
wood, scrap metal and a white
sheet and soon they had made
a small boat.
“That was quick!” said Sid.
8
They scrambled into the boat
and started rowing, using
some sticks they had found as
oars, and after a few minutes
they had arrived.
9
They had just started searching
for the flower when they heard
Sid yell at the top of his lungs,
“Guys come quickly, I've found
them!”
And there they were, four little
Dodeclice sat eating the purple
leaves.
“DAVE!” they yelled when they
saw him. “We were so worried
about you,” said an elderly
female.
10
“Sid and Lizzie, meet my
family,” said Dave. “This is
Daniel, Daisy, Dad and Auntie
Doris.”
“Doris!” exclaimed Lizzie.
“That's my middle name.”
“Anyway, we should be going,”
said Sid. “We have to get back
to Parkdean for our show!”
“Goodbye Dave,” said Lizzie.
“See you around!”
“Goodbye Sid and Lizzie!” said
Dave. “And thank you for
everything!”
