The occupations that make me who
“I am”.
This is my brother and his family at an Aston Villa soccer match, an occupation I have done since I was 12 years old. I love the
atmosphere and the feeling that most of the thousands in the crowd all want the same as me...a Villa victory.
“I am an Aston Villa fan”.
This is a broccoli head I grew in my vegetable garden. I became interested in gardening and growing my own vegetables when I arrived in New Zealand because it was something everyone else
seemed to be doing!“I am a gardener.”
These are my colleagues at the first kindergarten I taught at. I was a teacher for 20 years, the last five in early childhood which I really
enjoyed. “I am a teacher”
This is after I had completed the Rotorua marathon. I have been running for many years and find it a great stress release and way to
keep fit.“I am a runner”.
These are my university friends on a weekend trip we made to Liverpool.
We have been friends for over 20 years and try to meet up every time I go back to the UK. “I am a friend.”
This is my sister and I having a break whilst cycling to Melbourne. I have six brothers and one sister and we all enjoy cycling.
“I am a sister and a cyclist.”
Paddling in the sea at Hot Water Beach, the Coramandel. The beach is my favourite place to spend my time and it’s where I am at my
most relaxed.“I am a holiday maker”
This is temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which I attend regularly. This is one of the most important
occupations in my life. “I am a Mormon”.
Occupational therapy books used as I study. Studying is now my primary occupation after I resigned form my post as a teacher.
“I am a student”
This is the shirt I wear when I am working as an occupational therapy assistant at Rotorua hospital. It’s a job which I really enjoy
and is great experience.“I am an occupational therapy assistant.”
