PENTECOST: Today we are celebrating the Solemnity of Pentecost. On Pentecost day, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles in a form of tongues of fire and like a blowing wind. From that moment the Apostles began to proclaim the risen Lord wherever they went with enthusiasm and courage. Also, Pentecost is known as the Birth Day of the Church. Let us pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and fill our community with his presence.

month of May. Through Mother Mary may she continue to

FATHERS’ DAY: Fathers’ Day will be celebrated on

Sunday June 18, 2017. On that day, we shall also celebrate

the Feast of Corpus Christi, Donation envelopes in honor

of fathers are available at the back of the church. Let us

pray for our fathers alive or dead. That very day soon after

11:00a.m. mass, we shall have a brief procession with the

Blessed Sacrament around the parish church. Please, make

it a point to join in that prayerful event. Amen.

CORPUS CHRISTI: We shall celebrate the Feast of the

Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on Sunday June 18,

2017. Soon after 11:00a.m. mass in Spanish we shall

proceed with our street Procession in honor and praise to

our Savior in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Body of

Christ. Let us make it a prayerful event.

SACRED HEART: On Friday June 23, 2017 we shall

celebrate the Feast of Sacred Heart. English Mass will be

at 1.00pm and Mass in Spanish at 7:30pm. Members of

Sacred Heart will come vested in their uniform on that day.

ST. CATHERINE ACADEMY SUMMER TACHS PREP PROGRAM: St. Catherine academy’s Higher Achievement

Program (HAP) for 7th and 8th grade girls will be taking

La entrega del Espíritu al nuevo pueblo de Dios corona los poderosos actos del Padre en la historia de la salvación. La fiesta judía de Pentecostés convocó a todos los judíos devotos a Jerusalén para celebrar su nacimiento como pueblo elegido de Dios, en la Ley del pacto dada a Moisés en el Sinaí. En la Primera Lectura de hoy los misterios prefigurados en esa fiesta se cumplen en el derramamiento del Espíritu sobre María y los Apóstoles. El Espíritu sella la nueva ley y el nuevo pacto traído por Jesús, escrito no en tablillas de piedra, sino en el corazón de los creyentes, como prometieron los profetas. El Espíritu se revela como el aliento vivificante del Padre, la Sabiduría por la cual Él hizo todas las cosas, como cantamos en el Salmo de hoy. En el principio, el Espíritu vino como un "poderoso viento" que barría sobre la faz de la tierra. Y en la nueva creación de Pentecostés, el Espíritu vuelve a venir como "un viento fuerte, impulsor" para renovar la faz de la tierra. Cuando Dios formó al primer hombre del polvo y lo llenó de Su Espíritu, en el Evangelio de hoy vemos que el Nuevo Adán se convierte en un Espíritu vivificante, dando nueva vida a los Apóstoles. Como un río de agua viva, para todas las edades derramará Su Espíritu sobre Su cuerpo, la Iglesia, como oímos en la Epístola de hoy. Recibimos ese Espíritu en los sacramentos, haciéndonos una "nueva creación" en el Bautismo. Bebiendo del único Espíritu en la Eucaristía, somos los primeros frutos de una nueva humanidad, formada por todas las naciones bajo el cielo, sin distinciones de riqueza, lenguaje o raza, pueblo nacido del Espíritu.

The giving of the Spirit to the new people of God crowns the mighty acts of the Father in salvation history.

The Jewish feast of Pentecost called all devout Jews to Jerusalem to celebrate their birth as God's chosen people, in the covenant Law given to Moses at Sinai.

In today's First Reading the mysteries prefigured in that feast are fulfilled in the pouring out of the Spirit on Mary and the Apostles.

The Spirit seals the new law and new covenant brought by Jesus, written not on stone tablets but on the hearts of believers, as the prophets promised.

The Spirit is revealed as the life-giving breath of the Father, the Wisdom by which He made all things, as we sing in today's Psalm. In the beginning, the Spirit came as a "mighty wind" sweeping over the face of the earth . And in the new creation of Pentecost, the Spirit again comes as "a strong, driving wind" to renew the face of the earth.

As God fashioned the first man out of dust and filled him with His Spirit, in today's Gospel we see the New Adam become a life-giving Spirit, breathing new life into the Apostles .

Like a river of living water, for all ages He will pour out His Spirit on His body, the Church, as we hear in today's Epistle.

We receive that Spirit in the sacraments, being made a "new creation" in Baptism. Drinking of the one Spirit in the Eucharist, we are the first fruits of a new humanity - fashioned from out of every nation under heaven, with no distinctions of wealth or language or race, a people born of the Spirit.
