From the Desk of Fr. Pat Desde el Escritorio de P. Pat

This weekend we celebrate the fundamental truth of our Catholic Christian Faith: our belief in the Most Blessed Trinity. We believe in one God in Three Divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Unlike any other religion that believes in one God, we believe that God is love and lives in a communion of relationships. Three Divine Persons equal in every way live in a union of LOVE with each other! Every time we make the Sign of the Cross, we proclaim this fundamental belief of our Faith! With how much reverence and attention should we make the Sign of the Cross! How careful we should be as we make it; it is the proclamation of our Christian Faith! We think of St. Patrick teaching and converting all of Ireland as he taught “oneness in three” holding the Shamrock and using it as a great catechetical tool! How sad I become when I ask young people today why the Shamrock and why St. Patrick holds it in his hand— and they have no idea! Recently I drew a triangle in place of the word “God”— and I was surprised the young people didn’t understand three perfectly equal angles and one triangle— oneness in three— a sign of the Blessed Trinity! Jesus, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, took on a human nature to become a man like us in all things but sin. He is true God and true man— one Divine Person with two natures: a Divine nature and a human nature. He is the image of the Father and He sends us the Holy Spirit who is LOVE. The Holy Spirit guides, protects and directs the Church. This weekend in our parish we also celebrate the feast of Mary, Help of Christians. She is the Mother of God, because she is the Mother of Jesus in His human nature. He is truly God. Honoring her, affirms our belief that God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity truly became man. He is the Head and we are the body— and, in this way, Mary is also the Mother of the “whole Christ”— of each of us! Mary is the “daughter” of God the Father. The “mother” of God the Son, and the “spouse” of the Holy Spirit because the Word (God the Son) became incarnated in her through the power of the Holy Spirit. And because she is the Mother of the Body of Christ, she is the Mother of the Church!! Our belief in the Blessed Trinity also affirms our conviction the God has loved us first: He, the Father created us out of love, not out of need; He sent His Son Jesus to become man to redeem us because He loves us; and He sends the Holy Spirit to be with us and to guide us in faith and in holiness because He wants us to be happy with Him forever in the life to come. Not only, but through Baptism we are living temples of the Blessed Trinity! Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell in us!! In an age where there is so much mistreatment and abuse of the human body and disregard for the human person, this truth of our Faith should cause us to pause, reflect, and change some of our attitudes, my body— your body— is more sacred and precious than any church anywhere in the world, because the body, as a temple of God, will live forever in the resurrection. Do I really believe that? Do I treat my body with that respect and dignity the dwelling of the Blessed Trinity deserves? This weekend we recall Mary Help of Christians and we pray that through her intercession we might live, as she did, as living temples of God, bringing The Blessed Trinity into the world through our presence! God bless you!

Boga Ojca, Syna i Ducha Swietego. Nasze ciało jest świątynia Boga i należy go szanować. Módlmy się do Matki Boskiej Wspomożenia Wiernych o wsparcie. Z bożym błogosławieństwem !
