My dear Parishioners, God is good! I have some uplifting news to share with you this week. The very day we posted the first of three pay-ments on our insurance for FY2018-19—$14,000 plus, I received a letter from our Auxiliary Bishop Bernard E. Shlesinger III. In it, he explained that, about a year ago, Fr. Philip Ryan, a priest of the Archdiocese passed on to his eternal reward and had generously “bestowed his estate on the Archdiocese of Atlanta.” He went on to state that Arch-bishop Gregory met recently with him and Auxiliary Bish-op Konzen to allocate the bequest and decided that, among others, St. Paul of the Cross should be gifted with $15,000! Unbelievable generosity on the part of our Archbishop and his Auxiliary Bishops! This gift will aid tremendously in getting us through these slow summer weeks when income is never equal to expenses. I ask you to join me in thanking Archbishop Gregory and Auxiliary Bishops Shlesinger and Kozen, and also in praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of Fr. Philip Ryan. We will be offering 15 Masses for that intention. Secondly, a big “Thank You” to everyone who has been contributing to our Capital Campaign. Your generosity has enabled us to reach the first goal of the Campaign: the in-stallation of a new roof over the right aisle of the church, the sacristy, chapel, and administration wing. The bulk of this work was accomplished this past Tuesday, the first fully clear day we have had in weeks! Finally, another bit of good news: On Saturday, August 4th, as the Diaconal Formation Program resumes with Archbish-op Gregory celebrating the opening Mass, we will be dedi-cating the school hall to the memory of Deacon Hilliard Lee. From that day onward, the hall will be known as the Deacon Hilliard M. Lee Hall. A fitting tribute to one whose life was intimately entwined with the life of his parish and whose Diaconal ministry will hopefully be an inspiration to the men preparing to walk where he has walked! —Fr. Jerome, C.P.

DECIMOSÉPTIMO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO 29 DE JULIO DE 2018

Page 4
