SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
MINISTRIES IN ACTION RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
New Ministry Opportunity - Gardening
Chuck and Rosemary Kornik created beautifully
raised gardens in the backyard of their home,
which is now our parish rectory. We would now
like to use these gardens to grow vegetables for the
people who come to our Parish Food
Pantry. If anyone is interested in
becoming part of this new ministry,
please call the parish office and let us
know. We need to get started soon.
A little cultivating, some weeding,
and before we know it, fresh produce
for our friends.
TEACHER APPRECIATION PARTY! You will not want to miss out on this year’s amazing event on Monday,
May 16th at 5:30 PM! All catechists, aides, and gen-eral helpers who have assisted in our program are invited to attend. Please mark your calendar and RSVP to the Religious Ed Office so we can plan for you!
REGISTRATION! In the quest to complete our registration process for the 2016-2017 school year before the summer break and while we still have clerical help, we are asking parents to register your children when you bring them for classes. Forms may be picked up, completed and left for us on the table outside the Religious Ed Office in the Parish Family Center. Each form is numbered as it comes in, and although we try to honor your choice of day, we can only do so for the first 100 families. Early registration is to your advantage as parents retain the abil-ity to make changes to your choice of day up until mid-
August should your schedule change later on in the spring.
MAY CROWNING - All of our children are invited
to take part in the crowning of Mary at our parish
Grotto after the 9:45 AM Liturgy this Sunday, May
8th. Children who would like to take par t in
honoring Mary should meet at the main door of the
church at the end of Mass.
Father Carlos’ Pills of Faith
“Holy Father, I pray not only for them, but
also for those who will believe in me
through their word, so that they may all be
one, as you, Father, are in me and I in
you.” John 17:20
God’s plan for our lives is not so much in what we
DO, as it is what we ARE. We all are called to be one
in Jesus. Jesus is vitally concerned with the
WITNESS our life leaves with the world around us!
Our life is constantly sending a message to those
around us, and it isn’t just what we say with our mouth
that is our witness, but also our actions. Jesus prays
for us to his loving Father. Let us pray for one another
and especially for those in need. Prayer makes us one
in spirit and our good actions makes us one in heart!
AD ALATRE DEI AWARD: RYAN RIVARD
Congratulations to Ryan Rivard, a member of our
parish and our Scout Troop 12, who recently received
the Ad Altare Dei award from Bishop McManus in
Saint Paul’s Cathedral in Worcester.
The requirements to receive this
religious award, which Ryan
completed this spring, are designed
so that the Scout grows in his
relationship to God and the Church.
We are very proud of Ryan’s
accomplishment and congratulate him. Ryan is a
freshman at Saint John’s High School, Shrewsbury,
and a student in our religious education program
preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Congratulations Ryan, and God bless. We are proud of
you!
FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY (FPU)
Our Lady of the Lake is beginning a new ministry to gain financial peace based on money expert Dave Ramsey’s FPU strategy. This life changing class taught by Dave Ramsey and the FPU team through video teaching and class discussions will help you achieve your financial goals by showing you how to eliminate debt, save for the future, and give like never before. This course curriculum has been implemented all over the country for the last 20 years, including local churches. The cost of a FPU lifetime membership is $93. (about $10/week), which includes class materials and access to the FPU online resources. Your membership means that you can attend the FPU class as often as you like. Spouses and engaged couples can attend together with a single membership, and teens living at home are welcome to attend with their parents. Please join us if you want to change your financial story and your life in a matter of weeks.

SUMMER SEMINARIAN—JAVIER
The Diocesan Director of Vocations asked us to wel-
come another seminarian to our parish this summer.
Javier will arrive here at the Lake this Thursday. He
is a wonderful young man, and I am sure he will ben-
efit from being with us the next ten weeks. Please
welcome him to our parish next weekend. Below is a
little information Javier wrote about himself.
“My name is Javier Julio De Arco. I was born in a
very small town in Colombia. I have seven siblings,
three brothers, and four sisters. I am number seven
in my family. My father died when I was eight years
old. My mother lives in Colombia with my brothers
and sisters. I finished my philosophical and theologi-
cal studies in 2012. After that, I worked in the jungle
with indigenous people for two years. When I arrived
in The United States in 2014, I did not know how to
say “hello” in English. However, people welcomed
me to this beautiful country. Now I am so happy to
serve this beautiful community of faith at Our Lady of
the Lake. I hope that together we can grow in faith,
hope, and charity.
My dear friends, thank you for welcoming me into this
wonderful community. God bless you all.” Javy
“Men Cannot Live Without Love”
Join us on Wed., May 11th, 7-8:30 PM in the Parish Center for Discovering Our Faith series as we explore Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Call David LaLiberty at 978-537-1134 or email him at [email protected].
MINISTRY MEETINGS Eucharistic Minister Sunday, May 15th at 7 PM Altar Servers Sunday, May 22nd at 7 PM Ushers and Greeters Sunday, June 5th at 7 PM The meetings will be held in the church for about 90 minutes or less. FINANCIAL UPDATE
As most of you know, I spoke at all the Masses on the weekend of March 12th/13th to make you aware of the financial difficulties we were facing as a parish. I asked everyone to prayerfully consider increasing their weekly offertory contributions or consider giving a one-time gift to help support the present budget. Our regular offertory collection during the month of
April was above $8,000. on three out of the four weeks. To balance our budget for the year we need to stay above the $8,000. mark each week through the summer, until the end of August. Our parish pay donations are usually consistent from month-to-
month, and we can count on receiving roughly $9,500. from our parishioners who contribute in this way. Please continue to be as generous as you can and know that each gift is deeply appreciated. Weekend Offertory Parish Pay Weekly Total
April 2/3 $ 9,324. $ 2,431. $ 11,755. April 9/10 $ 8.941. $ 2.431. $ 11.372. April 16/17 $ 6,987. $ 2,431. $ 9,418. April 23/24 $ 8,662. $ 2,431. $ 11,093. $33,914. $ 9,724. $ 43,638. We cannot report the parish pay income each week because we do not receive the reports from the bank until the end of the month. We will continue to give you a monthly summary like this one to keep you informed. We have received 12 one-time gifts toward our deficit amounting to $7,605. We are very grateful for each of these gifts. Lastly, the Easter collection (the basket is always passed a second time on Easter Sunday) was significantly higher this year than last year. The total this year was $10,062. ($3,000. higher this year than last year). The difference may have been because the basket did not get passed a second time at the Easter Vigil last year! MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO
CONTRIBUTE ON A REGULAR BASIS. YOUR
FAITHFUL AND CONSISTENT DONATIONS
ARE WHAT KEEP US AFLOAT, SO THANK YOU
VERY MUCH.
LAST CALL FOR TRIP TO ROME 2016 The Pilgrimage to Assisi and Rome scheduled for October 5-15 is filling up fast.
