“Now Is the Favorable Time”

We tend to do such unthinking things with our time; we act as though it were really not limited. And yet, we

frequently feel as though we are “running out of time”. To comfort ourselves for rush and stress, we indulge in small

pleasures: TV, social media, scanning phone logs, eating an unnecessary treat, hanging out. We waste time.

Loved by God, we have been given the gift of Time. Time is the environment for all who have not yet reached

perfection. In Time, we are in the process of becoming perfect.

The Church in her wisdom gives us the opportunity of Lent, forty days of making decisions instead of just falling

into habitual routine. During these forty days, we choose certain activities: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving because

they require planning. We take the time to be conscious of what we are doing each day, not just because we don’t

know how many tomorrows we have, but because by choosing Christ, we are choosing rich, abundant life.

Christian loving is more demanding than watching TV or wandering online. A certain kind of boredom can arise in

prayer. Fasting and abstaining according to rules can be annoying. Giving is an impulse easily resisted. Avoiding

petty cruelty and betrayals, hurting ourselves and others is hard work.

Lent helps us to be converted with all our hearts. We can improve ourselves by PLANNING, ORGANIZING,

THINKING, TAKING THE TIME.

This can be your best Lent yet.

"Ahora es el momento favorable"

Tendemos a hacer cosas tan innecesarias con nuestro tiempo; actuamos como si el tiempo fuera realmente ilimitado.

Y, sin embargo, con frecuencia sentimos que nos estamos "quedando sin tiempo". Para consolarnos de la prisa y el

estrés, nos deleitamos en pequeños placeres: TV, redes sociales, escanear registros de teléfonos, comer algo

innecesario, pasar el rato. Perdemos el tiempo.

Amados por Dios, se nos ha dado el regalo del Tiempo. El tiempo es el la oportunidad para todos los que aún no han

alcanzado la perfección. En el tiempo, estamos en el proceso de ser perfectos.

La Iglesia en su sabiduría nos da la oportunidad de la Cuaresma, cuarenta días para tomar decisiones en lugar de caer

en la rutina habitual. Durante estos cuarenta días, elegimos ciertas actividades como: oración, ayuno y limosna

porque requieren planificación. Nos tomamos el tiempo para ser conscientes de lo que hacemos cada día, no solo

porque, no sabemos, cuántos mañanas tenemos, sino porque al elegir a Cristo, estamos eligiendo una vida rica y

abundante.

El amor cristiano es más exigente que mirar televisión o deambular en línea. en el tiempo libre puede surgir la

oración. Ayunar y abstenerse de acuerdo con las reglas puede ser molesto. Dar es un impulso fácilmente resistido.

Evitar la crueldad y las traiciones mezquinas, lastimarnos a nosotros mismos y a los demás es un trabajo duro.

La Cuaresma nos ayuda a convertirnos con todo nuestro corazón. Podemos mejor PLANIFICANDO,

ORGANIZANDO, PENSANDO, TOMANDO EL TIEMPO PARA DIOS.

Esta puede ser tu mejor Cuaresma. "Ahora es el mejor Tiempo"

Loving God,

During the sacred season of lent, bring me closer to you.

Prepare a place in my home and heart for silence and

solitude, so that I may re-discover the grace of a prayer-full

life.

Help me to fast from those things that threaten the well-

being of my soul and remind me of the grace of simplicity.

Enlarge my heart so that I give to those in need and, in so

doing, re-discover the grace of gratitude and generosity.

May this season rekindle my love and faith in you.

Amen.
