Induction: Part time / Full time attendance

Starting school is a momentous time in your child’s life and is hard work when you are 4!

Children are often very tired as they adjust to new faces and routines.

This is why we allow them to settle in gradually by extending their day to include staying for lunch before they spend a ‘full’ day in school

from 9am until 3pm.

How best to support your child before starting school

• PACEY ( Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) have produced some useful fact sheets about how to prepare your child for starting school in a variety of ways and we have published these to our website or you can access them on www.pacey.org.uk

• Encourage your children to talk about school in a positive light but to also share any worries that they may have .Our transition booklet is a good way of talking about new places and faces and your child will be able to familiarise themselves with their new ‘big’ school in advance.

• Talk, talk, talk! When you are in the car or out and about – discuss with children what they can see and hear , what the weather is like or how they are feeling. Encourage them to count and look out for signs and letters from their
