Parents Guide
May 2019
About the Kanata Dragons
• Formed in 2012 as a not for profit community organization
• Our goal is to offer affordable soccer programs for children aged between 3 and 11
• Our focus is on fitness and fun rather than competition
• 700 children will participate in 2019
Run by volunteers
• Our club is run by volunteers who want to make a difference to their community
• We hire two students in the summer through a government grant to help with the workload.
Dezzy the Dragon
• Our mascot is Dezzy the Dragon
• Look out for Dezzy as he attends club events throughout the year

Field Marshals
• We hope to have a field marshal at each session
• Field marshals wear yellow Kanata Dragons T shirts
• Field marshals will be able to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have about the Kanata Dragons
Coaches
• All our coaches are parents who have volunteered to coach your child's team
• Our coaches have been asked to wear a red Kanata Dragons T shirt so they are easy to spot
• Please assist your child’s coach if asked to do so
Snacks
• It is club policy that coaches do not organize the snack roster
• If your team decide to have snacks then we request that a parent who is not coaching volunteers to organize the snack roster
• Please try to keep the snacks healthy and please no nuts
Inclement weather
• With the exception of lightening, soccer always goes ahead
• We believe that you know your child's tolerance to inclement weather better than we do
• Parents are therefore asked to make their own decision if they wish to attend soccer in inclement weather
• Should a session be cancelled it will not be rescheduled
Parents on game day
• We are not a drop off service
• Parents are expected to stay with their child on game day
• With the under 3 and under 4&5 age groups parents will be required to participate in the drills with their children
• Coaches may ask parents to help in any age group
Richcraft Recreation Centre field
• Each team will play at least 2 of their sessions on the artificial turf field at the Richcraft Recreation Complex
