Welcome Parents! K-‐2 Physical Education
Mr. Noah Gibson

About Me Dear Parents,
This is my first year teaching Kindergarten through Second grade. I received a Physical Education and Health degree from Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Over the course of the last ten years, I have had many opportunities to coach and assist with children of all ages. I am entering my fourth year of coaching football and baseball at Watertown High School. Through Watertown Park and Rec, I have coached little league baseball, taught swim lessons, and officiated many youth sporting events. I have a passion for underprivileged youth, and have volunteered in inner city after school programs. I look forward to working with lower elementary students as I find great joy in observing them acquire the basic skills needed to participate and enjoy life long physical activity. I have seen first hand the benefit and necessity of developing healthy habits and lifestyles at a young age. I see the importance of promoting physical activity in today’s culture. Through clear expectations and goals, I strive to create a learning environment where students can have fun learning new skills and movements. In order to create such an environment, I see the importance of having an organized routine for class with limited dead time. Classes will learn to work together to create a positive learning environment. Part of my philosophy of education is realizing that this is a team effort between you as parents, and me as the teacher to help your child reach his or her full potential. If you have any questions, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me anytime via email at [email protected] or leave a voice mail on my school phone at (920) 555-1234. I will make every effort to respond promptly.

Classroom Management Procedures Teaching your children basic physical skills, being safe, and having fun are my main goals every year in physical education. I believe the best way we can accomplish these skills, is if my students are well behaved, and follow these basic rules. I will use discipline if needed, but on the other hand classes can earn “fun days” by being “great sports”.
Basic Rules and Expectations
1. Must wear gym shoes 2. Listen to and follow all directions 3. Respect the feelings and abilities of others 4. Always try your best 5. Stay on task 6. Be safe 7. Have fun
Discipline steps
1. Warning 2. Time-out on the “Team Bench” 3. Note or phone call home

Family Fun Projects Each month a family fun project will come home with your child. They will be short creative projects intended to give you opportunities to engage in what your child is learning in Physical Education class. Be creative and have fun with these projects! The first one is included in this packet!
Family Fun Project #1
Help your child depict their favorite loco-motor skill (walking, running, hopping, galloping, etc.) on an 8.5X11 sheet of paper. Use whatever medium you would like (paint, crayon, fabric, etc.). Bring them in anytime before the end of the month
because we will hang them around the gym!
