Lateness
We are having students signing in late with the reason being given that they have been to Tesco or
Subway.
Could parents ensure their children leave in plenty of time if they need to go to either food outlet in the
morning. Additionally staff will be in those locations when possible before school.

News from the English Department.
Year 11
The English exam is on Tuesday and luckily students have a long weekend to prepare! They should
balance the weekend between getting some much needed rest time and revision. We will be sending them
home with a workbook to help them revise productively.
On Tuesday they will be spending the morning in English and should bring their work books into school.
We are happy for them to bring some snacks and drinks to help them during this long revision session.
Please could we ask that over the weekend you check that students are equipped for the exams. They will
need a number of blue/black pens and 3 highlighters, stored in a see through pencil case.
We wish all of year 11 the best of luck!
Mrs Holland
KS3 News
Remember all KS3 homework is skill based and set on SAM Learning. If your child cannot access this for
any reason they are to inform their class teacher immediately.
It is pleasing to see that more students are completing the extension homeworks which have been
uploaded onto Show My Homework. Continue to encourage your child to work through these as they
develop their skill set needed in lessons. Certificates will be issued at the end of term!
Library reading continues with year 7 different genres and year 8 different cultures. The active
encouragement of reading for pleasure should be a core part of every child’s educational entitlement, whatever their background or attainment, as extensive reading and exposure to a wide range of texts
make a huge contribution to students’ educational achievement.

French Spelling Bee
On Wednesday, we took three students to compete in the French Spelling Bee regional Final after they
had won their "classroom" and "whole school" finals. The competition was very intense and, being the 6th
time that I have taken students to the Regional final, I can see the evolution and the increasing difficulty to
win.
Furthermore, as the number of schools from East Anglia is getting larger and larger, there were more
rounds than usual in the competition. Therefore, although our three students didn't go through to the semi
final, it was a very close result with only one point of difference between the last qualifier of the first round
and Vladislava Prieskina (EY5), who managed to translate into French and spell with the French alphabet
13 words in one minute. Nell Ashworth (KT1) and Hope Lake (EY8) also did very well with respectively 7
and 8 words in one minute. It is also important to note that the competition took place in a big lecture
theatre in front of about 50 people.
The three girls were a great credit for the academy and made me very, very proud!
Miss Anton

Thank you for all of your help at the car boot on Sunday; the girls were litter picking, collecting money at
