Obituary The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of

my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23

Ruthie Kittles (Simon), the oldest daughter of the late Spencer and Dessie Simon, was born on August 29, 1947, in Screven County, Georgia.

At an early age, she joined the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She attended Screven County Public Schools. Upon reaching adulthood, she married Colyar Kittles and moved to Long Island, New York. From this union, three children were born: Ricky, Vincent, and LaTonya.

Four siblings preceded her in death, Tommie Simon, Clifford Simon, John Willie Simon and Leartis Simon.

Her life’s passion was advocating and caring for disabled individuals and she spent 25 years of her life working for United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), where she lovingly managed a residence home for developmentally challenged adults in Brentwood, NY. She was respected as a valued and devoted professional who was a beloved friend to her staff and residents, even after her retire-ment earlier this year.

On Friday, October 21, 2016 she departed this life while asleep at home.

She leaves to cherish lifelong memories: ex-husband, Colyar Kittles, Sylvania, GA; two sons: Dr. Rick Kittles, Phoenix, AZ and Vincent Kittles (Denise), Islip, NY; one daughter: LaTonya Kittles Hendricks (Brian), Ellicott City, MD; four sisters: Geneva Oliver (George), St. Petersburg, FL; Thelma Moore, Central Islip, NY; Carolyn Simon and Bernice Bangura, both of Atlanta, GA; three brothers: Major Lee Simon (Francis), Thomas Simon (Annie), and Gerald Simon, all of Sylvania, GA; one uncle: Eugene Taylor, Sylvania, GA; three aunts: Leola Gaines, Minister Mary Watson and Eva Mae Fulcher (Walter), all of Sylvania, GA; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Simon, Sylvania, GA and Shirley Webb (David), Hartford, CT; seven grandchildren: Joshua, Andrea, Nekhi, Desiree, Kendall, Keera and Malcolm; one great grandson: Jabari; a niece and nephew who were in her daily life in Long Island, James and Brianna; several godchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who each held a special place in her life.
