This year Palheiro Estate is planning it’s first authentic Oktoberfest celebrations! Between the 3rd and 5th of October, get ready for a “Gaudi” of a time in Madeira, there will be a 5 man band, with lots of beer, food and not to mention schnaps.

Krauhölzl Musi are a young and dynamic group who play all over the world, including Munich & Dubai and will be performing at Palheiro on the 3rd, 4th & 5th.

As well as three different kinds of German beers, the authentic menu features Weisswurst (sausages), Sauerbraten (pork loin), Rotkraut (red cabbage), Serviettenknödel (napkin dumplings), Apfelstrudel and Bavarian pretzels.

Don´t forget to wear your Lederhosen and ladies, your Dirndl!

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Relais & Chateaux, Casa Velha do Palheiro, invites you to join us on a gastronomic journey. The guest chef this year will be Vincent Farges who is the Executive chef at the Forteleza do Guincho. Joining him will be the head chefs at Casa Velha do Palheiro - Madeira born Chef Francisco Quintal and French Chef Eric Weidmann - who will be using their vast experience of Casa Velha haute cuisine whilst showcasing all the gastronomic delights the region has to offer. Specially chosen Portuguese and Madeira wines from the Blandy Wine vaults will complement this Autumnal menu.

Visitors to Madeira and Casa Velha do Palheiro are invited to make reservations for dinner at their earliest convenience to avoid disappointment.

It’s the height of summer and we have been receiving some great submissions for our annual photography competition.

Don’t forget to visit our website to vote on your favorite, we will be announcing the winner in the final week of January 2015.

This Summer has been full of life and activity at sea. Often one can see dolphins from the Palheiro golf veranda(admittedly with the help of binoculars!). Keep an eye out for the catamarans when they are close together....a sure sign that there are either dolphins or whales close by.

This Summer on Balancal we have seen loads of Bottlenose and Atlantic spotted dolphins as well as the following Whales – Fin, Bryde, Pilot and Sperm Whales.

This is a riding centre situated in Estreito de Camara de Lobos with horses and ponies available for riding instruction for all levels, for children and adults alike. A discount of 10% is now available to loyalty card holders.
