To the Congregation of St. Mary’s I want to thank all of you very much for the gift of the prayer blanket. When I received the package from my sister, Betsy, my heart was filled with joy. I had seen the prayer blankets of my brother in law, Roger and Betsy’s, never imagining I would one of my own. I am so grateful for the thoughtfulness and love that went in to pre-paring the blanket for me. I will treasure it always, Marilyn Burris

ST. MARY’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH VESTRY MINUTES
January 14, 2020
PRESENT: Father Mark Story, Sr. Warden Andy Smith, Jr. Warden Mike Ryan, Jr. Warden-Elect Tim Bridges, John Harrison, Debbie Hand, Traci Hampton, Bill Lambert, Mark McLochlin, Kyle Baker, Treasurer Ben Kenyon ABSENT: None GUESTS: None I. MEETING Andy Smith called the January meeting of the Vestry to order. II. AMEND OR APPROVE MINUTES Minutes from the December meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Andy Smith to approve the minutes, with a second by Mark McLochlin. PASSED (1) III. FINANCE REPORT Ben Kenyon. a. Year end financials. We are currently $21,500 in the hole beyond what we originally budgeted. That money will come out of the remaining available $42,000 in the unrestricted endowment, which will only leave $21,000 as reserves for next year. The unrestricted endowment currently has $92,000 but it has a $50,000 corpus minimum. b. Stewardship update. We currently have 81 pledges for a total of $291,000. In addition, we have a verbal pledge of $9500, so we are at $300,000 on pledges. Motion to receive the financial report made by Bill Lambert, second by Mike Ryan. APPROVED (2) IV. SR.WARDEN’S REPORT a. Stained glass. Andy talked to a man at Artistic Glass Studios about removing and storing our stained glass. He is go-ing to draft a proposal to do that. We will deal with installing them in the new facility in a separate proposal. b. Andy thinks it would be a good idea to have a home fellowship program where we have small groups that meet in houses after we start meeting at the school, to help build community. V. RECTOR’S REPORT a. Gift in honor of Andy and Carol Smith. Carol’s sister and her husband made a contribution to the building fund in honor of Andy and Carol. b. Email to Randy Entz. Fr. Mark sent an email to Randy Entz, the City Planning Director, asking for some guidance about our use of the house as an office. Fr. Mark has not yet heard back from him. c. Columbarium. Fr. Mark made arrangements with Matthews Funeral Home to move the Resident Saints and the col-umbarium on March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation. d. Move. Father Mark would like to have everything cleaned out of the building by March 31. The Boy Scouts have been informed that they will need to move to a new location. We need to give them a date to be moved out. Fr. Mark will let them know. We will not be taking most of the books out of the library. We will just keep the ones that have substantial value. Sara Memmott is in charge of either donating or disposing the books we are not going to take.

e. The Morey’s donated some furniture to the church, a desk, a couple of credenzas, some file cabinets and a con-ference table that seats six, which is better than the office furniture we have now for Debbie. The plan is to get rid of our furniture and use the Morey’s furniture after the move. We can use the conference table in the bell tower. f. Waiver of liability. Pam Docktor, the head of St. Mary’s School, sent us a waiver of liability to sign prior to using the school for our church services. John Harrison reviewed it and said that it looks fine. g. Vestry candidates. Wes Stucky has agreed to stand for election as Senior Warden elect and Clayton McCook and Kevin Sharp for at-large members. Don Hench plans to submit an application tomorrow. There are three at-large positions to be filled. VI. OLD BUSINESS/NEW BUSINESS a. Stewardship call reports. Vestry members are going to send info about their stewardship call reports to Ben and Fr. Mark. b. Budget for 2020. The Vestry approved a budget for 2020 in the amount of $387,842. That is based on pledge payments of $300,000. The budget leaves a surplus of $16,632, with no nonrenewable balance sheet transfers. No further business being brought forward, following prayer, the meeting was adjourned. Submitted,
John Harrison, Clerk MOTIONS: A motion was made by Andy Smith to approve the minutes, with a second by Mark McLochlin. PASSED (1) Motion to receive the financial report made by Bill Lambert, second by Mike Ryan. APPROVED (2)

the fringe symbolizes a prayer. One-by one the knots are tied by individual parishioners at the end of each ser-vice. One-by one the blanket recipient is lifted-up to God by a caring congregation. A blanket is freely and rev-erently offered to anyone in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Community. To request a blanket, call the church of-fice. A donation of $10 is accepted for those outside the community. We respectfully accept all inquiries regard-ing this Ministry in care of Mary Lambert, at [email protected]
