About Our Chairman

Dr P.A. Ibrahim Haji is a philanthropist and a renowned Indian

businessman. He heads various business and educational

institutions in India and the Middle East. He is the Chairman of

PACE Group of institutions which manages 14 educational

institutions in India, UAE and Kuwait. He presently owns and

manages many outstanding business ventures - Malabar Gold &

Diamonds, Indus Motor Co. Ltd., Century International Travel

& Tours LLC, Al Shamali Group, to name a few. He is a

member of court - Aligarh Muslim University, Member of the

Executive Director

P.A. College of Pharmacy is recent most venture of P.A. Educational trust and PACE group. The college was started from August 2018 with its first batch in the current academic year (2018-19). The college has been very active since its inception in its academic and extracurricular activities. It has already gained a ‘positive reputation in the district with its activities.

P.A. Educational trust has five reputed institutions in its quiver. P.A. Educational trust believes in quality education and training. PrincipalPharmaceutical education and Research, in India, is shaping up impressively in the recent times. Number of educational institutes offering pharma education are increasing all over India, testifying to the fact that, Pharmaceutical education and research has gained tremendous importance. Ever since, National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) was introduced, existing reputed colleges are striving hard to get on to the top of the list. In this quest the institutions are concentrating on providing quality education and research. New establishments entering the education systems have to compete with the giants for their share in the system. The new entrants should therefore pull their socks from the beginning and lay stringent quality measures for their institution. The institution should focus on various ranking and accreditation systems to build a sustainable, competent and quality educational organization. P. A. College of Pharmacy (PACP), an enviable destination for pharmacy education in the in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka state, is approved/ recognized institution to impart by Pharmaceutical education. The institute is approved by PCI & AICTE, Recognized by Govt. of Karnataka and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. PACP was established in 2018 with the intention to provide quality education and training in Pharmaceutical sciences, and to build a strong, competent, qualified pharmaceutical force in India. With this initiation, PA Educational Trust, a pioneering education venture Mangalore added another feather to its cap by expanding its purview to health care dimension.

Why Pharmacy?Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing

drugs. This science uses principles of health sciences, biology and chemical sciences to create and dispense pharmaceutical drugs.

• India, after independence has evolved in every aspect. Higher education at large and professional trainings in particular have come long way and at present at its zenith shouldering the development in technology. Pharmaceutical Sciences is witnessing new paradigm of technologically advancement in Pharmaceutical manufacturing, marketing and community services. To meet and to cater to the needs of Health Care profession, Pharmaceutical Industry and miscellaneous demands, well educated, well trained and quality Pharmaceutical force is highly essential. The present education in pharmacy has been crafted carefully and offered at different levels such as Diploma, Bachelors and Masters by Pharmacy Council of India.

• The four-year course of B. Pharm offer impetus for skill development and administration in Industry and (or) community services. Therefore, B Pharm graduates can discharge their duties as responsible chemists, druggists, Industrial pharmacist, Manufacturing Chemists, Packaging Chemists, Quality Control and Quality Assurance executives, Hospital and Community Pharmacist (for Dispensing and patients Counseling), Sales and Distribution executive (Detailing to doctors and bulk distribution of medicines), Academic Pharmacist (training diploma in pharmacy students). With higher qualification, M Pharm, a person could land up in Pharma industry in several areas such as research and development, new formulation development, regulatory affairs, product management and marketing. With experience, an aspirant can move up the ladder to occupy senior positions in pharmaceutical companies getting hefty pay and perks.

B. Pharm

• The program aims at learning and acquiring adequate knowledge, necessary skills to practice the profession of pharmacy including thorough and exhaustive knowledge of synthesis and assay of Medicinal agents including mode of action, drug interactions and Patient counseling and professional information exchange with Physicians and other paramedicos.

• The course also aims at acquiring an in-depth knowledge of formulation, storage and analysis of various pharmaceutical dosage forms including herbal medicines required for both large scale commercial production & research.

• The Aim of the program also include the understanding the concept of Community Pharmacy and be able to participate in rural and urban health care projects of State and Central government. The graduate is also required to detail the physicians and community' and market the medicinal agents for diagnosis, prevention and therapeutic purposes.

• The Aim also includes that the pharmacist should act as bridge between Physicians and Patients and strive for better healthcare.

• The objectives are covered under three headings namely: (a) Knowledge and understanding (b) Skills and (c) Attitude

(a) Knowledge & Understanding The graduate should acquire the following during their four year B Pharm course

• Adequate knowledge and scientific information regarding basic principles of Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmaceutics includingcosmetics, Pharmacology/ and Pharmacognosy including Herbal drugs

• Adequate knowledge of practical aspects of synthesis, formulation and analysis of various pharmaceutical and Herbal medicinalagents

• Adequate knowledge of practical aspects of delivering a quality assured product as per pharmacopoeia, WHO and ISO standards

• Adequate knowledge of practical aspects of pharmacological screening, biological standardization and in-vivo drug interactions.

• Adequate knowledge of clinical studies for patient counseling leading to physical and social well being of patients.

• Adequate knowledge of practical aspects of product detailing and marketing of Pharmaceutical products.

(b) Skills A graduate should be able to demonstrate the following skills necessary for practice of a pharmacy.

• Able to synthesize, purify, identify and analyze medicinal agents.

• Able to formulate, store, dispense, analyze the prescriptions and / or manufacture the medicinal agents at commercial level.

• Able to learn and apply the quality assurance principles including legal and ethical aspects involving drugs.

• Able to extract, purify, identify and know the therapeutic value of herbal / crude / natural products.

• Able to screen various medicinal agents using animal models for pharmacological activity.

(C) Attitudes The graduate should develop the following attitudes during their four year B.Pharm course.

• Willing to apply the current knowledge of pharmacy in the best interest of patients and the community.

• Maintain a high standard of professional ethics in discharging professional obligations.

• Continuously upgrade professional information and be conversant with latest advances in Pharmacy field to serve the communitybetter.

• Willing to participate in continuing education programmes of PCI and AICTE to upgrade knowledge and professional skills.

• To help and to participate in the implementation of National Health programs.

Learning Outcome

• The graduates at the end of their program will be expected to face the challenges of the pharmacy profession in various disciplines such as Pharma Industry, Community Practice (Community and Hospital) and Research.

• The graduate should be able to demonstrate their skills and abilities solving problems related to the day to day professional needs. They should apply the acquired knowledge into action providing preliminary solutions in specific areas of their work.

• The graduates are expected to understand the importance of applying pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic principles in formulation development and product development. The graduates must demonstrate entry level skills in interpreting regulatory norms of the country and should skills to apply such knowledge in various Pharmaceutical processes. They are expected show preparedness to present a personal view founded on observing, understanding, documenting compiling, analyzing, organizing data and information; eventually converting the such information with judgment and sensitivity in the healthcare domain, especially pharmaceutical products and practices.

B. Pharm Course

Minimum qualification for admission —

• 1 First year B. Pharm — Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities(AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and or Biology (P.C.B / P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

• Note: Provided that a student should have completed 17 years of age on the date of admission or should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the program.

• 2 B. Pharm lateral entry (to third semester) — A pass in D. Pharm. course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

• Duration of the program — The course of study for B.Pharm shall extend over a period of eight semesters (four academic years) and six semesters (three academic years) for lateral entry students. The curricula and syllabi for the program shall be prescribed from time to time byPCI and RGUHS, Bangaluru.

B. Pharm Course• Course of study - The course of study for B. Pharm shall include Semester Wise Theory & Practical

D. Pharm

• Diploma in Pharmacy program is a Diploma certificate course. It is well known by the short names of D Pharm and D Pharma. D. Pharma is a 2-year full-time diploma course designed to prepare candidates to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, community pharmacies, and other related pharmaceutical fields.

• Typical Duties of a Pharmacy Technician: Preparing medication for dispensing and compounding pharmaceuticals, preparing aseptic products, performing inventory control, purchasing, merchandising, and record-keeping as required under such acts as the Food and Drug Act.

(b) Skills A Diploma qualified person should be able to demonstrate the following skills necessary for practice of a pharmacy.

• Able to formulate (simple formulations like ointments), store, dispense, store, analyze and read doctors prescriptions.

• Able to learn and apply the quality assurance principles (specially in relation to storage conditions) including legal and ethical aspects involving drugs.

• Able to communicate with the patients with confidence.

(C) Attitudes The Diploma qualified person should develop the following attitudes during their D. Pharm course.

• Willing to apply the current knowledge of pharmacy in the best interest of patients and the community.

D. Pharm Course
