Overview of English tasks and activities for Week 10 (29/6/2020)
Remember you can take photos of your work or draw or write in your
portfolio using your dojo child login.
Every day: Keep reading to a grown up. Use the books on EPIC and books you
have at home.
Over the week:
This is our first week of our next writing unit called ‘Mission Possible’! This unit
is a bit longer than the last two so will take three weeks to complete and will
end with you writing your own adventure story! We hope you enjoy it
Day 1: Read and discuss the story. Chat about the story with an adult and
record your answers. Write a short synopsis of the story.
Look at your weekly spellings and using Letterjoin, practise writing them using
cursive handwriting.
Day 2: Look at the ‘Wonderful Words’ section and match the definitions to the
word. Then, complete the character profiles.
Day 3: Create a character name and a character profile for your own
characters.
Day 4: Design and label a spy gadget. If you have time, you could design a
poster to advertise your gadget.
Day 5: Spelling activities, spelling test and (optional) Grammar test.
Spellings – complete the spelling activity and ask a grown up or older sibling to
test you on the class spellings on Friday.
Handwriting- log on to letterjoin and rehearse letters and words that you know
you find difficult (lots of you need to work on f and g and y) There are lots of
games on here. Have a play. Upload to your portfolio so we can give you help and
feedback.
This week we are going to focus on the suffixes ‘ssion’ and ‘sion’ in the
activities but please don’t forget our spellings for home.

Exceptions to the Rule…..
Two words which don’t follow
the rules are attend and
