ACS understands genset manufacturers’ customers have demanding operational requirements. We have developed a wide range of expertise to provide comprehensive testing facilities to simulate customer operating conditions.
ACS has completed design and construction for production, development, and research genset test cells.
We have managed the design, construction, and commissioning of load banks for genset, locomotive, and aircraft electrical power system testing as well as for reverse power prevention and maintenance of installed gensets for standby power applications. Our experience includes load bank design and installation for facilities designed to test generators up to 5,000kW, including reactive testing. Test programs include multi-voltage and multi-frequency (DC, 50, 60, 400, and 800Hz) solutions using single or multiple outdoor air-cooled load banks.
Additionally, ACS has experience with Hopkinson’s back to back systems to conduct fully reactive load tests without the use of traditional load banks. Regenerative load bank simulation has been executed for a 5,250 KW wind turbine generator testing. This program included utility grid fault simulation in addition to leading and lagging power factor loads.
ACS has designed systems that can be manually controlled from the HMI test screen or remotely controlled from the test cell control and data acquisition system. Our commissioning process assures that we prove out the client’s acceptance criteria, as identified during the design phase of a project.
