Mass Outdoors Only!

With the news on Monday from the California gover-nor, we are to discontinue indoor services. Bishop Kevin Vann released a statement:

“We believe that it is our responsibility to protect the health of our parishioners while preserving their religious and essential right to attend Mass. Given the increase in Covid-19 cases in the State of California and the County of Orange, and for the sake of the common good, the Diocese of Or-ange will be advising our parishes to suspend in-door services until further notice. However, we encourage our parishes to offer outdoor Masses with proper Covid-19 safety protocols and to con-tinue their livestreaming of services to the faithful.”

The weekday schedule has changed to only 7:00 AM Monday to Friday. Weekends remain the same. We are continuing with a daily livestream at a closed doors Mass at 8:30 AM for all our homebound. Please bring your own chair as we have limited seat-ing. Reservations will no longer be required, it will be first come first serve. It is very important that we all follow the safety guide-lines we put in place to protect all those around us and in a big way help the healthcare workers who are fighting to safe lives. • Face masks covering nose and mouth • Physical distance • Hand sanitizer • No gathering after Mass including the parking lot We are all in this together and we can only get through this by doing it together.

TODAY'S READINGS

First Reading — You taught your people that those who are just must likewise be kind (Wisdom 12:13, 16-19).

Psalm — Lord, you are good and forgiving (Psalm 86).

Second Reading — The Spirit comes to aid us in our weakness (Romans 8:26-27).

Gospel — Jesus proposes parables to the crowds, teaching them of the reign of God (Matthew 13:24-43 [24-30]). The English translation of the Psalm Responses from Lectionary for Mass © 1969, 1981, 1997, International Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved.

GOOD SEEDS Today Jesus continues to speak to his follow-ers using parables. What a rich treasure we are given today in three parables about the kingdom of heaven! The kingdom is likened to a man sowing good seed in his field, a mustard seed, and yeast mixed with flour. As they did last week, today the disciples press Jesus for an interpretation of one of the para-bles—the parable of the man sowing good seed. Lest we think that these parables are simply amusing little anecdotes, Jesus’ inter-pretation should be seen for what it is—a warning. Wailing and grinding of teeth in a fiery furnace await those who are children of the evil one. This parable points to the strug-gle for today’s believer. Sometimes, through sin, we sow weeds and prevent the love of Christ from blossoming. Let today’s Gospel help put us back on track. Let us recommit ourselves to preparing for the last days, the harvest, by blossoming as the good seeds we were created in love to be. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Prayer to Overcome Racism

Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has found a way to unite himself to every human being, called to be one people, sisters and brothers to each other.

We ask for your help in calling on your Son, seeking forgiveness for the times when we have failed to love and respect one another.

We ask for your help in obtaining from your Son the grace we need to overcome the evil of racism and to build a just society.

We ask for your help in following your Son, so that prejudice and animosity will no longer infect our minds or hearts but will be re-placed with a love that respects the dignity of each person. Mother of the Church, the Spirit of your Son Jesus warms our hearts: pray for us.

Amen. www.usccb.org/racism

Video of Stations of the Cross to Overcome Racism.

Bishop Kevin Vann and Auxiliary Bishop Timothy Freyer joined other bishops from throughout the state of California to produce and release a video reenacting the Stations of the Cross, in an effort to draw attention to the sin of racism and ask God’s help in eliminating it. PRAYER TO OUR LADY, HEALTH OF THE SICK DURING THE CORONA-

VIRUS PANDEMIC

O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, united with Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this mo-ment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. He who took our suffering upon Him-self, and burdened Himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas — we who are put to the test — and deliver us from every danger. O glorious and blessed Virgin. —Pope Francis, March 11, 2020 © Libreria Editrice Vaticana
