DAY 1 SAT 6 SEP SYDNEY TO BRISBANE

Meet Ross Tour Leader Libby Cameron at Sydney Airport for the flight to Brisbane where we join the Spirit of the Outback train for an overnight journey to Barcaldine.

DAY 2 SUN 7 SEP BARCALDINE

You’ll love what John and Joss Chandler have created at Kyneton Station on the edge of the desert uplands. Enjoy outback hospitality with a relaxing welcome dinner on the verandah.

DAY 3 MON 8 SEPBARCALDINE TO WINTON

A short drive takes us into majestic mesa country and to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs. Study local dinosaur bones, toast the glorious outback sunset from the top of the hill, and enjoy a delicious barbeque dinner.

DAY 4 TUE 9 SEP WINTON

Step back in time this morning to witness the only recorded dinosaur stampede on the planet, at Lark Quarry Dinosaur Trackways Lunch at Carisbrooke Station. Dinner is followed by a movie at the Open Theatre.

DAY 5 WED 10 SEP WINTON TO LONGREACH

Watch majestic floodplains as the colours fade into starry outback skies, then savour the traditional flavours of outback cuisine and enjoy music and fun with a live show.

DAY 6 THU 11 SEP LONGREACH

Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame this morning, then Outback Stockman’s Show before lunch at the Cattleman’s Bar and Grill. Listen to the birds as we wander through Dariveen Station garden.

DAY 7 FRI 12 SEP LONGREACH

Longreach School of the Air. Meet local graziers at Strathmore Station. Qantas Founders Museum is up next where we join a guided tour of the 747 and 707 aircraft.

DAY 8 SAT 13 SEP LONGREACH TO BLACKALL

We head out of Longreach along the Matilda Highway today, exploring Ilfracombe on the way. We’ll visit the Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre, which features world-class fossils.

DAY 9 SUN 14 SEP BLACKALL

Our highlight today is Dumfries Station, home to David and Lindy Hardie. Old-fashioned roses and hedging play a major role in this lovely garden. Homestead Dinner.

DAY 10 MON 15 SEPBLACKALL TO CHARLEVILLE

To Charleville with a Tambo Teddies stop, town garden visit and chat to the Tambo Garden Club. Later we’ll picnic lunch beside billabong and enjoy a spot of birdwatching. Cosmo Centre for the night show.

DAY 11 TUE 16 SEP CHARLEVILLE

First up Charleville Airport and Royal Flying Doctor hangar. Then view native gardens at Lass O’Gowrie Station, an oasis set upon a hard Mulga Ridge. Indulge in tastings, sunset garden drinks, canapés and dinner.

DAY 12 WED 17 SEP CHARLEVILLE TO MITCHELL

Today we leave Charleville for Mitchell on our way to Toowoomba. We’ll take a break at Mount Lonsdale Station, spending time in the gardens and a delicious afternoon tea.

DAY 13 THU 18 SEP MITCHELL TO TOOWOOMBA

We’ll learn history at the famous Roma Big Rig, and the area’s 19th century past, before checking into Toowoomba.

DAY 14 FRI 19 SEP TOOWOOMBA

Toowoomba’s annual Carnival of Flowers is a marvellous celebration of gardening. We’ll visit exhibition gardens, then travel to the Chocolate Cottage for lunch. More open gardens, this time out of town.

DAY 15 SAT 20 SEP TOOWOOMBA

The Japanese Gardens are serene and lovely, and we will start the day with a walk.There’ll be more prizewinning gardens after lunch and undercover seats to view the wonderful Grand Parade.

We will take a twilight tour and have champagne at sunset. Our big day out in Toowoomba ends with a farewell dinner.

DAY 16 SUN 21 SEP TOOWOOMBA TO HOME

On our way to Brisbane we detour up the hill to Spicers Hidden Vale Resort. There we’ll enjoy high tea, looking out over the stunning view before our flight home.
