Each year, Belmont Village celebrates our employees and showcases our very own “stars.” Your feedback is very important, and we would appreciate your participation in the nomination process. There are four categories for an employee for nomination. Please nominate by March 15. Putting Customers First Award. The candidate in this category is friendly, very professional, and demonstrates excellent customer service skills. This employee demonstrates how resident safety is a priority. This employee shows respect and dignity for all of our residents. Team Player of the Year Award. The candidate is multi- faceted and assists residents regardless of whatever department this employee is assigned to. The candidate communicates well with coworkers in every department at Belmont Village. This is the employee who consistently helps other employees without having to be asked to do so because this Team Player’s attitude surely benefits our residents. Going the Extra Mile Award. This candidate always goes above and beyond what is asked of them on behalf of a resident or family member. This employee consistently strives to make things better for others. This employee is solution oriented and sets an example for excelling in their role at the community. Finally, Employee of the Year. This individual always demonstrates best practices, acts with the care of the resident in mind and exemplifies all the qualities listed above. Who will be our “Shining Star” this year? Neighborhood NewsThe Neighborhood routine

continues to include exercise inthe morning and what we like tocall an active game in theafternoon. It is just as importantto work the body as it is to workthe mind. It also helps to rousethe group before moving into amore cognitively based task. Hereyou see Ada and Mary enjoyingthe parachute game with Virginia.The group had a great time raisingand lowering the parachute intime with the music while tryingto keep a ball afloat on top.

January Employee of the MonthClaudia is an Activity Assistant in the Circle

of Friends. Her team recognized her for being a“team player”! They said, “She is always willingto pitch in and support the team.” Claudia isgreatly appreciated for her personal touch andkindness with our residents. She assists increating lesson plans, is dependable, andcommitted to her residents’ well being. TheCircle of Friends residents said, “She is the bestteacher because she makes activities enjoyableespecially when you join in on one of hergroups’ activities.” Congratulations, Claudia!

Thanks for Your DonationOur Red Hat Ladies collected 6 large bags of

clothing during our last clothing drive. Thanksto all of the families, residents and staff forgoing through their closets and making verygenerous donations! We decided to donate to“WINGS,” which is an organization for abusedwomen. They have a resale shop, and theproceeds go to house and counsel these woman.Many of the clothes we received looked brandnew and will certainly bring in top dollars! Theladies felt good about their efforts and also feltwonderful about helping women in need.

Gangnam Style & Fever!Those are the two songs our

MBA dancercizers entertainedwith the Wine & Cheese crowdlast month. We had 11 residentswho danced in synchronizedmovements. Our residents surelywore big smiles! They had theirbow ties and dark glasses on asthey rode their horses with the“Gangnam Style” song along witha big red hot thermometer whenthey danced to “Fever.” They did afabulous job, kept the audiencesmiling, and performed somegreat moves! Congratulations toour dancers!

They Are Going tothe Dogs!

Our residents worked diligentlyto make 31 fleece blankets for thedogs and cats at the Orphans ofthe Storm animal shelter. Wecarefully tied two pieces ofadorable animal printed fleecetogether. This was not an easytask! Many thanks to Ben R., Ann,Frieda and Joan who tookadditional fleece material to theirrooms and independently workedto complete additional blankets.Thanks to many of our residents;there will be some very happyanimals!
