A Note From RachelleStress Awareness and other
things to be aware of...April is a great month for many
reasons. We usually have niceweather and the temperaturedoesn’t get too hot until May andJune. April is a month where weplay jokes on each other.
Many people use the entiremonth to be aware or observecertain causes. April is AutismAwareness Month, InternationalGuitar Month, Keep AmericaBeautiful Month, National FrogMonth (not sure why we need tohave a month for frogs), NationalChild Abuse Prevention Month,National Garden Month, StressAwareness Month, NationalParkinson’s Awareness Month, and a slew of other things to beaware of. It sure would keep onebusy if they were to observe all ofthese things.
Out of all of the things that arecelebrated and observed in AprilNational Humor Month has to bethe best. Everyone likes to hearjokes and laugh. Many people say,“Laughter is the best medicine.” Iknow I feel better when I amlaughing, so I will end this articlewith a joke courtesy ofwww.lotsofjokes.com.
Innkeeper: The room is $15 anight. It is $5 if you make yourown bed.
Guest: I’ll make my own bed.Innkeeper: Good. I’ll get you
some nails and wood.

Jokes and Hoaxes andPranks, Oh My!
While its origins are notentirely clear, April 1, commonlyknown as April Fools’ Day, hasbeen a date for playing pranks forcenturies, sometimes on a largescale. For example, in 2000, anews release was issuedannouncing the 15th Annual NewYork City April Fools’ Day Parade.Besides throngs of spectators, twomajor news affiliates showed upto cover the phony event. To readabout other classic capers, visit theApril Fool Archive atwww.MuseumOfHoaxes.com.

The theme for March in theCircle of Friends was “Women’sHistory Month”. We learnedabout Indian and pioneer women, women during times of war, andthe Women’s LiberationMovement here in the US. It’samazing to consider how the roleof women in our society haschanged so significantly in such ashort period of time, and even
more amazing is that many of ourown residents played a significantrole in this evolution!
JoAnn and Monica: 4 green thumbs!
