OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWSLETTER march 2017 PASTOR’S LETTER LENT Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This final Sunday of Epiphany we once again heard the voice of God. “This is my Son, the beloved, with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him”. We have come a long way from Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany focusing on who Jesus is - “The Beloved Son” to whom we are disciples and beloved children, to now listening to Jesus. God’s admonition to us is to listen to Jesus, who for the past weeks we have listened to His sermon on the Mount. “Blessed are you.... you are the salt and light to the world, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”!! Let us listen to Jesus! He turns the world upside down or right side up. Now we move to another part of the church year when we will travel with Jesus on our way to Jerusalem and Holy Week and as we journey together the days get lighter and hope abounds that God in Christ is always doing something new. During Lent we take time to reflect on our Baptisms (calling to listen and follow Jesus in lives of faith and commitment). I encourage all to take a little extra prayer time at a wonderful Lenten Soup & Bread and Prayer gatherings on Thursday evenings. This year marks the 500 Commemoration of the Reformation. Therefore, we will reflect on Luther’s Small Catechism each week focusing on the Ten Commandments, Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Sacraments and Confession. It’s been a long time since we have pulled this book out! As usual, Holy Week marks the mighty acts of God in the death and resurrection of our Lord. He gives of himself in His Holy meal and commandment to Love one another. So, my brothers and sisters in Christ, I look forward to serving and greeting you at His holy table and let us always, “Listen to Jesus”, as our Lord commanded us to do. The Peace of the Lord be with you always, The Rev. Ronald M. MARCH 2015

Six more weeks of winter wasPunxsutawney Phil's prediction. If itcontinues as mild as it has, I do not thinkanyone will mind, although we might be infor a little more winter before it is gone forgood. We brought some of the last snowinto the classrooms for the children to playwith in bins. After their initial surprise, theyenjoyed scooping and packing it into cups. The Toddlers looked a little skeptical at first, but then dove in. The Pre-K were excitedfrom the start! It's fun to do unconventionalactivities with the kids!

Valentine's Day was a happy event. Thechildren were so excited to pass out littlecards to all of their classmates. It isdefinitely a lesson on the joy of giving! Beautifully decorated bags carriedtreasures home. A party in the afternoonmarked the occasion. Pastor led us in aJesus Loves Me Chapel to tie in with theholiday.

Seaford Library began their weekly Pre-Kstory hours. The class enjoys the storiesand activities that they bring, in addition to anew teacher in the classroom.

We will end the month with Miss Chris'Yoga Class, a lunch of Pancakes on FatTuesday and Chapel with Pastor to receiveashes on Ash Wednesday. As March rollsin we will observe if it comes in like a lion ornot. Then, we will be trying to catch aglimpse of our leprechaun friend andenjoying his mischief!
