Dr. robert “Bob” matthews The original concept for the Matthews Sports Exhibit was conceived in 2007. The exhibit is housed in the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit. The core philosophy of the exhibit is that the joy is not in having the collection – but the real joy is sharing the unique memorabilia with the community. Visiting the display is like taking a mini-trip to the Hall of Fame. The younger generation can be exposed to the significant contributions Jewish athletes have made to American culture. They can learn about the superstars of the past and take pride in their rich Jewish sports heritage. Older fans can be reunited with the heroes of their youth and relive many fond memories. Blessed with incredible parents, who lived and practiced Jewish values, Bob and his wife, Sandy, have tried to perpetuate their legacy of helping others. The Matthews Family Foundation for in-home support services for older adults was formed in 2000 to provide assistance for elderly adults in our community.
