Dear Parishioners,

May the good Lord find you with peace.

This second part of my letter has to do with the spiritual life of the parish. After being here for a year, I am a wit-ness to the faith of all of you. Your respectful participation in Holy Mass is admirable. I do not want to pass this op-portunity to thank all our volunteers, lectors, EM’s, greet-ers, and everyone else who are directly involved in the Mass. Also, we would like to thank all our different parish groups who have been the living soul of the parish. In these difficult times, we pray for all our parishioners who have health difficulties and for our donors who help us to sustain our parish. It is my hope that one day we will get back together.

This past year, we focused our attention on bringing back our devotions. I believe that popular piety is one of the best ways to evangelize our younger ones. Among these celebrations was the pet blessing which was very exciting for the children, Día de todos los difuntos, May Crowning, and the consecration of our school and parish to the pil-grim image of Our Lady of Fatima, and the posadas among others.

Let me share a word of encouragement. We purchased the first two external HD cameras that will be installed on campus. These two cameras are the first two of some oth-ers to come. Talking about cameras, we also purchased one main HD camera for the parish in order to better serve those parishioners that are not quite ready to come back

Please keep our beautiful parish in your prayers so that as we enter the next fiscal year we continue to re-open our daily activities such as Adoration to the Blessed Sacra-ment and the many group activities. Finally, I would like to thank you for your patience as we make last minute changes that have to do with diocesan policies and our parish reality. We are learning on the go but something that you need to be sure is that whatever we are doing is to serve you and your family better.

By the time you read this letter, I will be on vacation and doing a spiritual retreat in order for me to come back stronger spiritually.

May God bless you and may this be the beginning of many blessings for the upcoming year.

Estimados parroquianos, Que la paz de Dios esté con ustedes. La segunda parte de mi carta tiene que ver con la vida espiritual de la parroquia. Después de estar un año aquí, he sido testigo de la fe de todos ustedes y por eso los ad-miro. Su respetuosa participación en la Santa Misa es ad-mirable. No quiero dejar pasar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos nuestros voluntarios, lectores, Ministros extraordinarios, y otros que de alguna manera están en-vueltos y tienen una participación directa en la Santa Mi-sa. Además, me gustaría agradecer a todos nuestros dife-rentes grupos parroquiales que han sido definitivamente el alma viviente de la parroquia. En estos tiempos difíciles, rezamos por todos nuestros parroquianos enfermitos y por nuestros donantes que nos ayudan a sostener la parro-quia. Espero el día en que volvamos todos a estar más fuertes. El año pasado, enfocamos nuestra atención en recuperar nuestras devociones populares. Creo que la piedad popu-lar es una de las mejores formas de evangelizar a los más jóvenes. Entre estas hicimos la bendición de las mascotas enfocada a los niños, el día de todos los difuntos, la coro-nación de la Virgen María en el mes de mayo, la consa-gración de la escuela y la parroquia a la imagen peregrina de Nuestra Señora de Fátima y las posadas entre otros. Finalmente, una palabra de aliento. Compramos dos cá-maras externas HD que se instalarán en el campus. Estas dos cámaras son las dos primeras de otras que se pla-nean. Hablando de cámaras, también compramos una cámara HD para instalarla dentro de la parroquia enfoca-da a nuestros feligreses que aún no están listos para re-gresar. Después se hará la instalación. Por favor, mantenga nuestra hermosa parroquia en sus oraciones para que el próximo año fiscal continuemos re-abriendo nuestras actividades diarias como la Adoración Perpetua y los grupos parroquiales. Gracias por su pa-ciencia con los cambios inesperados, esto depende de las directrices diocesanas y nuestra realidad así es que esta-mos aprendiendo sobre la marcha con todo lo que esta-mos viviendo, pero algo de lo que debe estar seguro es que lo que sea que hagamos es para servirle mejor a us-ted y a su familia. Students at OLPH, don’t forget to continue to do your summer reading and your Extra Math for our Math Olympics Challenge. We hope both of these will prepare you for school when it opens in August. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School is pre-paring for school to open in August! We are putting a task force together to ensure we are meeting the CDC guidelines for the safety and health of all of our students, teachers and families. We will publish the plans through videos. Look for these videos the sec-ond week of July. We have limited space available and several classes have closed, so if you plan to register you must do so immediately. Many scholarships are still available to help pay for tuition. If you are interested in having your children receive a Catholic education please contact the principal at:

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

The flesh is our old self of yesterday and the one we left behind in Baptism. It is the self of doubts and fears, sin and error, reluctance, un-tamed passion, and errors in judgement. It is also the self of missed opportunities and roads untraveled. Al-though we were baptized many years ago, every day is another day to live, not according the flesh of yesterday with its regrets and misgivings, but rather to live the life of the spirit of today and tomorrow. The burdens of our personal baggage and of life itself can weigh us down. The love of Jesus Christ and the life of the spirit can pick us up, refresh us, and provide us with the hope for new oppor-tunities and discoveries. Because we have been baptized in Christ, we need not be anxious about what we did or did not do yesterday or anxious about what will come tomorrow. We need only to seek out the love that is before us, around us, and in us and learn.

Es el yo de las dudas y los temores, el pecado y el error, la renuen-cia, la pasión indómita y los errores en el jui-cio. También es el yo de oportunidades perdi-das y caminos desentrañados. A pesar de que nos bautizamos hace muchos años, cada día es otro día para vivir, no de acuerdo con la carne de ayer con sus remordimientos y recelos, sino más bien para vivir la vida del espíritu de hoy y de mañana. Sólo necesitamos buscar el amor que tenemos ante nosotros, a nuestro alrededor, y en nosotros y aprender.

We continue our series on the parts of the Mass. After THE INSTITUTIONAL NARRATIVE which we learned last week is the high point of the Mass, comes THE MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION. The priest introduces it with these words, “the Mystery of Faith”. Sometimes he speaks the words. Other times he chants the words in our language and we sing our response. At our parish, during Advent and Lent the priest may chant the introduction to MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION in the language of the Church, which is Latin: “Mysterium fide” Then we respond in Latin, “Mortem tuam annuntiamus, Domine,et tuam resurrectionem confitemur, donec venias.” Our response in English is, 1. “We proclaim your Death, O Lord and profess your Resurrection until you come again.” There are two other appropriate responses we can give when we hear “The Mystery of Faith.” 2. When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again. 3. “Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.” THE MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION is a time for looking at Jesus in the Eucharist with all the love and adoration in our hearts. We remember his sacrifice and thank him for saving us.

Continuamos nuestra serie en las partes de la Misa. Después de LA PLEGARIA EUCARISTICA que aprendimos la semana pasada es el punto culminante de la Misa, llega LA ACLAMACIÓN. El sacerdote lo introduce con estas palabras, "este es el misterio de la fe". A veces dice las palabras. Otras veces canta las palabras en nuestro idioma y cantamos nuestra respuesta. En nuestra parroquia, durante el Adviento y la Cuaresma, el sacerdote puede cantar la introducción a la ACLAMACIÓN en el idioma de la Iglesia, que es el latín: "Mysterium fide" Luego respondemos en latín: "Mortem tuam annuntiamus, Domine, et tuam resurrectionem confitemur, donec venias". Nuestra respuesta en español es, 1. "Anunciamos tu Muerte, proclamamos tu Resurrección, ¡Ven Señor Jesús!". Hay otras dos respuestas apropiadas que podemos dar cuando escuchamos "Este es el Misterio de la Fe". 2 Cada vez que comemos de este Pan y bebemos de este Cáliz, anunciamos tu muerte, Señor, hasta que vuelvas. 3. la Eucaristía con todo el amor y la adoración en nuestros

corazones. Recordamos su sacrificio y le agradecemos por

salvarnos.
