    Dates to Remember

The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal The Archdiocese of Newark’s Office of Human Concerns works to spread the Gospel’s challenge of our need to care for the poor and the marginalized within our society. It does this by making presentations in parishes, schools and religious education programs about the importance of Catholic Social Teaching, specific social issues and the importance of service in the life of the Church. The Office of Human Concerns also works with youth groups from both the Archdiocese of Newark and nation-ally who are looking for service projects and an oppor-tunity to reflect on their experiences. During the last two summers, over 80 young people from around the country will come to the Archdiocese to serve the poor with ser-vice projects in our shelters, parishes and soup kitchens. This Office creates a greater awareness of the important social issues of the day such as poverty, climate change and fair housing by providing information to parishes and practical ways to be involved in making positive changes to the world. Thank you for your support of the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, which makes the Office of Human Concerns a reality! Pencils and AAA envelopes are located in the church pews and in the back of the church.

OLMC Music Ministry The Music Ministry at OLMC is looking to expand its Adult Choir. You are not required to read music or be a professional singer at all. As long as you love to sing to the Lord, there is a place for you in our choir. Please note, that we are in particular need of male voices. The Adult Choir sings at the 12:15

mass and practices on Tuesday evenings following Novena. We are also in the process of forming our very own Junior Choir. The plan is for the choir to sing at the 10:45 a.m. Family Mass. A Junior Choir would add an enormous amount of vibrancy to our parish and promises to offer a very enriching experience for your child. The age range is approximately between 7 and 13 years of age. Consider this wonderful opportunity and register your child. If you are interested or have any questions, you may call Andrew at (347) 678-6702 or email, [email protected].

Religious Education Please Note... Registration for the 2013-2014 school year has begun. Information and forms have been given to the children. Forms are also available on our web-

site. Please register as soon as possible, so that we can order books.

A Reminder About Proper Warm Weather Attire at Mass

Now that the warmer weather is upon us, it is important that we dress appropriately and modestly for Mass. Here are some rules to follow for appropriate Mass attire dur-

    ing the summer months:

♦ Hemlines on skirts fall near the knee ♦ Hemlines on shorts fall near the knee (no short-

shorts) ♦ Shoulders and midriffs are covered ♦ Necklines are modest (no low cut blouses)

♦ No muscle tee-shirts ♦ No exposed undergarments

Bethlehem Handicraft Visit: Holy Land Olive-Wood Crafts On June 8/9 following all masses, artisans from Bethlehem Handicraft will be here to make their hand-made olive wood figurines and other crafts available for purchase.

10th Sunday in Ordinary Time “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, ‘Do not weep.’” LUKE 7:13 This verse is a great reminder that the Stewardship life-style is one of service, putting God first and to “love one another.” Unfortunately today, many people have “passion” for activities they enjoy their job and off work activities. Many times our “passion” to excel is at the ex-pense of someone else. Maybe we need to focus on a little less passion for our individual concerns and a lot more compassion for others.

Some days there won't be a song

    in your heart. Sing anyway.

Word of Life I would say emphatically that we must all commit our-selves with clarity and courage to every human person, especially children, who are among the most vulnerable, that they might always be defended and protected. ~ Pope Francis, Regina Caeli Address, May 5, 2013
