Current Message from: Most Reverend Archbishop Leonard P. Blair, Archbishop of Hartford…

May 19, 2020 “On March 13, 2020, each and every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Hart-ford was dispensation from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass by

Archbishop Leonard P. Blair. With the cancellation of public Masses and liturgies announced on March 16 and currently in effect until further notice, this dispensation has remained in effect for all Sunday Masses since that time.

The Archdiocese of Hartford is currently working to prepare a set of guidelines for the resuming of public Masses and liturgies at churches within the archdiocese. Once this work has been concluded and a completed set of guidelines has been prepared, the archbishop will announce when and how the resuming of public Masses and liturgies can take place.” Please join Archbishop Blair in praying for the intercession of Mary, our Mother, in protecting our people from the scourge of the coronavirus.”

“We pray for an end to this illness throughout the world, and for those who are afflicted with it.” ~ Archbishop Leonard P. Blair

The Sanctuary Candle at the Tabernacle indicates and honors the Presence of Christ.

The Candle is Lit for… Christopher Hopperstad

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar In today’s gospel Jesus speaks of unity, not uni-formity. With uniformity everything is the same.

Unity requires recognition and reciliation of differ-ences. How do you reconcile differences in your home? Do you listen respectfully or do you try to

manipulate or impose your opinion? The seeds of unity and division are in every family. What we sow, we reap. What is your family harvest?

PRAY: Lord, I relax my body, quieten my mind and focus on my breathing. Then I seek you there, in the silence. Amen. THINK: Jesus prayed to God for us. How can I pray to God for my friends? Jesus wants me to have eternal life and de-scribes what that life is: to know God and to know Jesus. When I read the Bible, I can learn more about Jesus. ACT: We have work to do on earth to glorify God. We can never begin this work too early, or too late. What work does the Lord call on me to do today? Do I glorify God by caring for Mother Earth, caring for a needy neighbor, or sharing love in my family. Try to make all your actions glorify God.

Seventh Sunday of Easter Liturgy Notes Now that Jesus has ascended back up to heaven, the apostles have returned to Jerusalem, to the upper room where they were staying. In two short weeks the Holy Spirit will come upon them in an amazing way in that very room. They returned to meet for prayer and to collect their thoughts of all that has happened since the res-urrection and the fact that Jesus had appeared to them after that historic event. Our Responsorial Psalm “I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living” as well as its uplifting verses, is most apropos to the time period we are now in with this pandem-ic. A reminder that God is in charge, he is our light and salvation, and that the Lord is our life’s refuge, so, why should we be afraid. Upon Jesus’ return to heaven, he asks the Father for glory so that he in turn can give him glory. This is the last Sunday of Easter, and next Sunday, Pentecost, offi-cially completes the Easter Season in the Church, Easter related Hymns still prevail, such as our stirring Processional Hymn, “Crown Him with Many Crowns” and at the Presentation, “Lord of the Dance”. The Lord of the Dance is taken from an Appalachian tune, and pretty thoroughly tells of the life of Christ from his birth, to his crucifixion and to his resurrection. The Communion song, “Glorify Your Name” is loosely based on today’s Gospel Reading. On Memorial Day Weekend, we implore God’s mercy, Love and compassion on our great country with the singing of “God Bless America” as our National Hymn at the conclusion of the Eucharist.

You destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and
