The Memorandum of Understanding between CACD & NACD confirms that each

organization will recognize a member company in Canada / USA. The quarterly OLC newsletter includes information related to the operational aspects of our industry including: warehousing, trucking, human resources, containers, and much more. CACD head office has moved from Oakville to Burlington. The new space is much larger and includes a Boardroom as well as a training room.

The Responsible Distribution Code of Practice was voted on at last year’s AGM. The Code

was published in the following months and now available within the member section of the website. The Compliance date has moved to July 1st 2015 and the RD committee will soon be releasing helpful resources. Following a stakeholder’s engagement training session, the CACD developed the “member score card” which is unique reporting tool, comparing the most used resources to each member vs. the amount of resources that your company takes part in. It also gives each benefit a monetary validation so you can ensure you are capitalizing on the benefits from the association. If you have not received your member score card, please contact either Catherine or Cathy to set up an appointment.

The CACD website was upgraded last summer, giving access to the site on ALL your devices. The initiative was set as a priority following the member satisfaction survey in 2012. In addition, the member section features the Regulatory Finder. Please encourage your people to visit the site often and use it as a resource. The Board often evaluates the Chemunicator and decides whether or not, the Education Fund should continue to support the industry magazine. The magazine is one of the association’s outreach tools and it continues to get rave reviews. The magazine has a reach of 3600 contacts globally. The Association receives positive emails from readers outside of the membership as well as Past Presidents / Executive Directors of CACD. Last year, CACD (Cathy Campbell) was interviewed for a CBC documentary titled “Deadly by Design”. The interview was made possible through our partnership with the RCMP. The involvement gave CACD and its members credibility for the proactive approach that we take to ensure our chemicals do not end up in the wrong hands.

As always, the goal remains to increase the amount of member companies and supplier partners in the association. If you know of a company that should belong to CACD, please contact Cathy Campbell and nominate the prospect.

As I mentioned earlier, CACD has began the development of semester 2 CSCM program. Semester 2 & 3 will allow professionals in the chemical supply chain the opportunity to receive their CIRP accreditation (Chemical Industry Regulatory Professional). In addition to semester 2 of the Regulatory course, CACD has began development on the Operations series. Semester 1 of the OP course is scheduled to release towards the end of 2014.

Continuing to strengthen our government relations and advocacy initiatives will remain a priority. We will keep the membership informed of our wins moving forward.

Following the vote this morning, we will effectively change our name to CARD in October. Members will have until 2016 to roll over to new logo & name (there will NOT be a re-brand, just a change of acronym and name)

The board would like to make the role of Regulatory Manager a full time position to offer more help to the membership and increase advocacy programs

Every few years, the Board will review the association strategic plan to ensure it is current and accurately represents the membership needs.
