Absolute Machine Position Retained on Power Loss Most machine tools cannot retain the machine’s exact position in the event of a power loss. The Okuma Position Encoder has these benefits:

Encoder Feedback Accuracy The Okuma encoder is a compact, multi-stage rotary device with a resolution of 0.00001” (ten millionths of an inch) (0.25 microns) and is used on over 100,000 Okuma machine tools. When under power the rate of movement of all slideways is accurately monitored by the encoder. Data is then relayed to the Okuma OSP THINC control. The direct motor-mounted unit eliminates coupling backlash. Saves Time: eliminates this time-consuming and complicated machine re-zeroing/restart process. Non-Volatile: Unique mechanical design senses and retains tool position relative to machine zero at all times. The position of a slideway is stored and maintained within the encoder in digital format. High-Torque, High-Response Motion Control Designed and Manufactured by Okuma This brushless servo motor and amplifier system is a result of Okuma’s long track record in servomotor applications. Okuma's own patented brushless servo system is designed and optimized for every machine in the Okuma product line. The superb “mechatronics” combine the best of both motor and amplifier design. High-Torque, High-Response Performance Higher metal removal rates can only be accomplished with high torque motors. Both axes and the turret feature Okuma high-torque output motors. Faster servo system response time allows superior workpiece accuracy and surface finish. Response time is improved by having direct design control over all aspects of the machine and servo system. Regrouping of associated operational push buttons. Single mode operation for tool preparation, program creation, set up and continuous run. Spindle orientation enabled by push button. All operational stop buttons have been changed to red for quick identification.

Tool Life Management

View, manage and control the cutting life of tools with this standard feature. Calculate tool wear based on the number of parts machined or time in cut, Change tools at a predetermined interval and graphically display the data.

On Screen “Pocket Manual”
