Adult Oregonians …
• Fifteen years ago, Oregon had an obesity rate of 13.6 percent and was ranked 35th most obese state in the nation.
• Today we are ranked 34th although Oregon's adult obesity rate is now 27.9 percent. SAY WHAT??
• In total, 60.2% of adults in Oregon are overweight or obese.

Obese persons are estimated to have annual medical costs that are $1,429 higher than non-obese persons.

Now let’s look at our kids…• Percentage of Overweight and Obese Children in Oregon
26.4%• In addition, 23 of 36 counties in Oregon had childhood
obesity rates over 25%.
• This means that 1,063,920 young people may be at risk of developing serious medical conditions.
