Transparency Register
1. It provides information about who isengaged in activities aiming at influencingthe EU decision making process, whichinterests are being pursued and what levelof resources are invested in these activities.
2. It offers a single code of conduct, bindingall organisations which accept to “play bythe rules” in full respect of ethical principles.A complaint and sanctions mechanismensures the enforcement of the rules.
3. The Transparency register has been set upand is operated by the EuropeanParliament and the EuropeanCommission. The Council of the European
Union supports this initiative.
All citizen’s associations, NGO’s, businesses, trade and professional organizations, tradeunions, think tanks, etc., interacting with EUinstitutions and policy makers have to beregistered in the transparency register.
