Mise-en-scene Planning

Location 1The main setting for our opening sequence is the Ruislip Woods, we chose this location as it seemed fitting for our genre and plot because the woods can be seen as an eery and perilous location. It also helps create the idea of mystery as you don't know what is around each turning.

Location 2Our second location will be in a plain white room to act as our asylum. We chose this location to create realism as an asylum would be completely plain and simple with bare white walls and no way of escaping. However we will have to cover up the section on the right hand side.

ClothingOur actor will be wearing a hospital gown throughout the opening sequence. This costume adds to the verisimilitude of the scene as the character has just escaped from an Asylum and we have tried to make the character as real as possible. It could also make the audience question why she is in a hospital gown and what is wrong with her.

CastingWe casted Cerys as the protagonist because we were aware of her acting ability as well as her physical features which we felt would add to our scene, for example her pale skin adds a haunting quality to her character running through the woods. Also we wanted our character to be a young female so Cerys fits this role perfectly.
